MPC Live + MPC X: new standalone touchscreen MPCs?

yeh I know they are old....but they look the same as the 'X' so I think we can be pretty certain they are sticking with that design....

Nope. They are just trying to be cool. Like Apple...ukno? OS X, Logic Pro X, etc...

This is going to be a golden era for screen replacements.

I can't hate or kid myself though. If I was in the market for hardware I would probably be all over this.

Looks like they're getting their NAMM display for January show all worked out.

Would be awesome if they showed this; btw, the "X" looks different than the prototype from 2 yrs ago, which was more clearly a black Ren w a touch screen.

The "X" looks to me to be more square, less rectangular.

Considering that the touch is £499

I see the MPC live at about £899 or £999

And the MPC X at bout £1799

In the prototype, they literally took the Ren form-factor and attached a large screen to it. The upper corner has fewer rows and buttons as well compared to the X (eclipse)

Looking at the history of MPC's, you can see that the mpc prices of the flagship units where ridicules. I don't believe anyone would pay 3.5K (In today time) for a standalone.

If they keep it around the 1.5K I'm in.

Well historically Akai always initially come out with high pricing to maximise profit from all the customers who must have the latest shiny toy. Once they've exhausted that market they'll drop it down a bit to attract the next tier of customers, and so on until they are literally giving them away.

I really cannot see too many people in the UK biting at £1799 in the middle of the current economic gloom and doom, not when everyone already has a computer and the MPC Touch is £499 or a studio for £300. Assuming it's under £1k, it seems like the Live would be the sweet point for people who need a standalone.
