MPC Live + MPC X: new standalone touchscreen MPCs?

I'm still pissed at Akai for dropping the price of the touch to $599. If I would like to go for the MPCX would it mean that I have to sell my Touch for around $300 that's more than half the price I bought it for ($799).

If the MPCX would cost (lets just say) $1,500 it would mean I still have pay $1,200. Why are they f*cking with us?
I understand that they want to sell all the units they still have in stock but doing it like this is like f*cking us over.

They better start a trade in program for touch owners.

Agreed. There are other alternatives out there. You would think Akai would have a coming soon section by now on these units right before NAMM. After the holidays? Maybe they are working on that now? They HAVE to show at least the MPC Live at NAMM AND give a release date on 2.0. This world is driven by social media and yet nothing from Akai on the 2.0 software in 11 months. I just don't get it. When you hear nothing people start speculating. Good thing is the current software is stable and can't recall the last time I experienced a crash. I hope the best for them so I will patiently wait and see if Akai can present what they have been working on at NAMM. And I'm sure the insiders know a lot more but can't say yet.

Well the toraiz was about £1400 so an extra 3 bills for the legendary MPC workflow is a small price to pay.

But tutor what do u think the start price will be for the X, do think they will sell it at Rens initial price point? Given the the fact that the X has the plus of being standalone

That's so easy to say.. They've cut the price within a year. Of coarse I expected the price to drop but not so much when the MPC Touch hasn't even been released for a full year.

That's so easy to say.. They've cut the price within a year. Of coarse I expected the price to drop but not so much when the MPC Touch hasn't even been released for a full year.

I don't think the original price of the Ren ($1300) will have any bearing on the price of the X. I think Akai will just assess the current market and see what they can get away with. But with the exchange rates so bad ATM, I just can't see that $2000 estimate pricing cutting it in the UK - with VAT on top, that would be £2000.

It's not like inMusic's Akai have a great track record when it comes to quality control and stable software, so it's going to make people very cautious about dropping that kind of money. Most people would be wise to wait it out, firstly to see how stable 2.0 is, how many 'coming soon' features it has, and what the unbiased reviews of the hardware are like (but good luck finding unbiased reviews these days).

who knows what it's going to be like.. what features it will include... the ability of the machine. no way to know the price without knowing that first.. and also the quality.. you can read a spec sheet all day but they could choose to go the usual numark route by using the cheapest possible quality components.

and let's just remember the fact that the last two hardware samplers they made were total trash.

What are everybody's expectations on the X's specs? What would be realistic in you guys opinion?

Edit: And that 2.0 better be a stable software!

Yeah. They need to get it right; it's their last chance in a way.
A lot of eyes are on them right now, and many remember how immature Ren was when it came out.
I'm sure they've learned something, and the reason why they haven't put anything out in 2016 is because they don't want to do the same mistake they did with the Ren: rush it out and catch a lot of flak for it.
If they put out a killer product, they can really pull it off. If it's a half-baked product...tough times for Akai.

The X will be equiped with the mythical, legendary OS 3.0 that should've been implemented for the MPC5000. Took them all these years to perfect it

Far as we know the X has the same MPC software as everything else

I think they doubled the number, from MPC 2500 to MPC 5000 to MPC X. But 10.000 would be weird.
