Smallest/Cheapest laptop for MPC touch

What's the smallest and/or cheapest laptop and i can get away with for running the MPC touch ?

Does it depend on the work load or will the software just not run smoothly if you don't meet certain requirements ?

The stronger the PC the better the experience. You don't want your CPU to overload when your projects are starting to get bigger.
A PC with an i5 CPU and 8 gigs of ram is my minimum standard.

My opinion: If your serious about your music, you will have to invest.

I already have an i7 with 16gb of ram, i didn't ask for a daw computer, i only asked for a cheap/small laptop solution for running mpc touch smoothly with mostly light projects.

if i'm correct the mpc studio requires far less computer power so that would probably not work for mpc touch.

The minimum requirements provided by Akai:

Minimum System Requirements
Mac: Dual-Core CPU, 2.5GHz or better and 4GB RAM (8GB Recommended)
Win: Dual-Core CPU, 2.5GHz or better and 4GB RAM (8GB Recommended)

yeah company posted requirements are often not accurate, sometimes (often) u can get a software running smoothly with a lesser system, i'm looking for small/cheap for my live setup, light loads.

we're talking akai here so may i dare say they probably got this wrong :mrgreen:

The answer is... yes.

A good question would be, does anyone here run this below required specs? If so, what is their setup?

I would go with recommended requirements. That is my recommendation.

Edit: To clarify:
If you go below 4 gigs of ram, you will run out of memory mid session and crash to desktop.

If you run this app with less than a dual-core CPU, 2.5GHz or better, you're going to face stuttering, latency, and sync issues as well as crash to desktop.

This isn't speculation, this is just what happens. This is what happens when trying to use a potato to run high tech stuff.

I installed on a used Lenovo x201, i5 2.6 duo, 4gb ram, 12" screen. Copped for $99 on eBay without a charger. Added a 128GB SSD I had sitting around. Windows 10. Fresh install is snappy so far.

If you believe Akai system requirements are false. Then why would you believe a stranger running their Touch using less then the minimum requirements?

I used to run Reason 4 on a very underpowered Asus netbook when out and about.

Was it under minimum spec. Yes.
Did it run yes.
Did it run well? Hell no.

Of course it will run under minimum spec to a degree, just not well. Those figures aren't there to deceive, quite the opposite. Surely the manufacturer would put the lowest specs on they could to tempt more people to buy it despite having a computer that is not powerful enough to run it. Especially with the way some people round here talk about Akai you'd think that would be at the top of their list of lies/cons.
