Bug reports & end-user support for Akai's MPC Software 'controllers' including the new MPC Studio 2, the MPC Touch, MPC Renaissance & original MPC Studio and MPC StudioB lack.

I've had this problem, and though it will probably go unheard,as I've contacted Akai Pro, and never heard anything back. This is just a warning for those who are considering buying it, if you work in a daw.
Every daw I've tried to integrate with the Mpc software I've found the mpc software when in play mode loses sync, and creates hiccups. Its extremely un professional, when this happens in front of clients.

Either way, just letting the good folks know. Btw this is on latest mac and pc desktops which are both powerful, eg: NI Maschine does not suffer from this issue. Good luck

What daw are you using..?? I've used it in Cubase and Sonar with both my Surface Pro 3 and Sony Vaio Tap 21 and never had any sync issues. The only hiccups I've had was when loading to many VST's. You should download the trial version of Cubase and see if you can reproduce this issue. Or did you just want to promote NI Maschine..??

I've literally just tried it in cubase 9 as well as a friend, and it indeed suffers from the same issue. Are you sure you're not having the same issue. Here's a test. Set up a project on the Mpc now press play on the daw, do some editing on the arranger of your daw, or do normal behavior activity, change some eq or compressor settings. I've noticed the Mpc will hiccup and create all types of sync issues on playback. Daws I've tested are cubase 9, studio one 3, bitwig and pro tools 12. Either way if I remove the mpc, these sync issues go away. NI maschine plays back fine with no issues.

What happens if you have neither controller connected? ie. is it a problem with the controller or the software? I never had any issues with stability using it as a plugin in reaper unless it autosaved while playing and then the MPC went a beat or so out until you pause it and press play again. Logic was fine as well when I used to use that..

I'm editing my projects inside Cubase way more heavy than that. have you tried to adjust the latency? if you experience hiccups try setting a higher latency..

Just a heads up that you can disable autosave when playing back/recording...

Known issue in Cubase and Logic. Check the Akai help forums and even on this site, and you'll find people complaining about the same thing. I can reproduce the issue at will in Logic, but it doesn't happen in Ableton. It's a frustrating and annoying bug that Akai likes to downplay and say doesn't really exist (for Logic at least), though they have acknowledged its existence in Cubase. I can verify it's the same bug in both, bc it's reproduced the same way in both daws; eg, adding a track during playback, saving during playback, and a few others. The sync never loses the grid for me in LPX, but it falls off beat by some quantized amount. I actually stopped using MPC all together in logic for this reason. If i hadn't bought Ableton, I probably would've sold the Touch bc of this issue.

It was the MPCs autosave that caused the issues. Reaper just has no issues I've come across. I generally only use the MPC in standalone now so its not much of an issue. It would be nice if the MPC did a bit more of a silent autosave like most programs do these days instead of bringing up a brief progress bar and interrupting playback.

I can't speak for the other daws, but in Logic, autosave has no effect on the sync problem. I've never had autosave enabled, and I can still reproduce the problem. Pretty sure this is the same in Cubase, at least on the Mac side.

I just tried this, and you are correct, it seems, it has something to do with auto save here as well. Thanks,Perhaps beta team are not testing for daw work with the mpc? I think they may need a public beta, to sort out how others are working and what bugs we find vs. just the standalone app.

I was just messing around in Logic X and can't fix the sync problem, regardless of autosave. There aren't really autosave preferences is LPX besides an autobackup menu, so it might have something to do with the autosaving LPX does behind the scenes. Most likely does, since the problem happens while saving during playback or adding another software track/instrument (since i'm pretty sure this triggers autosave). I've also never been able to solve the missing first note issue in Logic.

Please descrive your COMPLETE setup and make sure, your buffer size is alright. "Hiccups" mostly occur when there's an unstable clock, and I can't see any fault. The exact same configurations as read don't cause any problems here after hours of trying to reproduce.

What DAW and OS are you using?

OS win10 - win8.1 both > studio one daw - buffer settings 64 samples - again I dont have these issues with NI Maschine, so I don't find that question really relevant unless the mpc software code is not up to par with maschine, hence why I mention NI maschine does not suffer from this issue.

I'm the one that agreed with you. I was asking the guy above me who says he spent "hours" trying to reproduce it and then disappeared. I can reproduce the sync issue in Logic whenever I want. Gotta love when people like that chime in with zero helpful information, deny there's a problem, and then bounce... really helps companies fix bugs :Sigh:
