MPC Live + MPC X: new standalone touchscreen MPCs?

So do you guys think everything I said was true now esp you jpeg? I said he told me for sure they finally finished it , that they were just waiting on the higher ups to decide what day they announce, I said thats why the site was down as they finally finished & were updating the registration site, & that it was from within the company. And kaydigi you said that you didn't believe it was done because pete didnt tweet anything. Even though they only released a bs video it sounds like everything I said was indeed true,I said they were just finishing the videos.& its only been a few hrs since I leaked the info.So I think the homie was right about everything & he did know.

Pete is starting his cryptic tweets now, so it looks like everything is set as you said.

Touch, Push 2, and Studio are about to be boxed up soon.

Patience is a good thing. Let them get it right.

If there is no mention of 2.0 and all they harp on about is this new dream MPC 'X' then I think it shows an unbelievable lack of respect for existing customers.

However, if they come with 2.0 and the X and they are both stable and finished products I think it could be good times for Akai and their customers.

As we dont have any specs from the official channels it might be that the MPCX is not a standalone but an controller. It won't bother me as long as 2.0 is a full fledged daw.

But the reason i'm saying this is:

1) The FCC entry for the MPC Live is named: 'Stand-alone MPC touch display'
2) The FCC entry for the X is named: 'MPC with TOUCH display'

Also in this new video they keep talking about how great it would be 'Live' , 'Live' , 'Live'.

Well my studio is the only place I produce my music so I don't really need it to be standalone. If it would just be a Ren type of MPC with a big touchscreen I'm all good and it might safe me some $$$$.

if thats da case alot of peeps will be hugely disappointed on one hand; but at least it will be cheaper

TBH I think it may make more sense for the X to be a pure controller, that way the models in the current MPC range will each be more distinctive in terms of features - Studio (controller-only, old school style screen), Touch (controller+basic audio interface, small touch screen), X (controller, large touch screen with advanced audio interface, more dials and buttons), Live (standalone & controller, small touch screen, battery power).

This will also keep the cost of the X more accessible - I think all this talk of $2000 would put the X out of reach of most bedroom producers.

Exactly what I was thinking only didn't know how to put it to words. And if that's the case they will milk this cow till the sucker is dry and release the so called 'eclipse' type of mpc a few years later but only after the cow is sucked dry..

I was just warming up to pay 2 grand for a standalone X.

The difference between the live and X other then form factor is the live will be battery powered the X won't .

Don't give up hope yet.. another user on the GS forum made a great point:

You know it's standalone when it's got an sd card slot

I on the other hand thinks the MPCX will be standalone assuming the leaked picture of the X back on page 41 on this thread is legit. Check out the SD card slot on the front panel. What would be the point of that if not to allow you to play or load sample data directly from a SD card without the need of a computer? I could be wrong but that's my point of view.

Just thinking out loud in terms of unique selling points of each MPC, I just wonder how many people will be willing to pony up £2000 for a touch screen standalone MPC when they can get one with a smaller touch screen for less than half the price (assuming of course that all these price guesses are correct).

However, it certainly seems that the X is a standalone, so definitely don't want to start any rumours that it isn't. We've already seen how easily these things spread
