That's literally offering the best of both worlds. Make your song in the MPC X in standalone mode, then finally hook it up to your computer to use your favorite plugins to mix it, for example.

I'm pretty disappointed that I can't load up my own VST effects / synths. I guess I'll install 2.0 for my MPCT, see just how deep it gets w/ these options, then decide.

I was hoping to hook up Turnado on it!!

WE are talking ARM CPU is these new units, not a brand new Kaby Lake i7. VST's can completely overwhelm a CPU with just ONE instance- an instance of Kontakt or Diva can take up one entire core of CPU these days. And copy protection for most major VSTs will be a big problem. Imagine trying to get iLok to work on this lol.

Not opening up the internal OS of the machine to 3rd party plugs will disappoint some users, but you really have to understand that in today's world, any system becomes old tech really soon. It wouldn't make sense to allow the system to use 3rd party plugins, because eventually that'd lead in people thinking, "Oh that MPC...it was cool but it really starts to cough when I load my synth plugins into it".
Nobody's complaining about the performance of MPC 4000 if you know what I mean.

Dude that can't happen where you want to load up vsts. They would have to go to every third party and recode the software. And a lot of software now is like over 20 gigs and more. Thats where the 2.0 comes in

Stands to reason. I just hope they'll make available frequent Live / X updates, to beef up the effects. I can hang w/ line-in for synths, etc.

Anybody know if any instruments will be installed in these units? Like Xpand2.

I think HYBRID has been confirmed. I think possible most if not all previous content will run stand-alone being ported over to the new ARM CPU as well as the AIR plugs talked about last year NAMM 2016,

From Tutor in another thread (viewtopic.php?f=36&t=181823&view=unread#p1712261)

Plug-in programs will only function when attached to a computer running MPC Software.

It could be different for some of the effect plugins(internal will definitely be there but the AIR bundle is an unknown at this point) but it doesn't look like instrument plugin programs will feature in standalone mode at all.

Yeah was hoping for a built in synth to offset the lost of vst

Disappointing. But not a game changer. I can sample and create my own synths.
