Akai did the same thing with the MPC Touch, it was originally much cheaper here in the UK. I think the difference is that the US price will drop further in the coming months, while the UK price won't budge (the UK Touch price started at £499 and is still £499, while the US price was 799, now 599.

Yes but the rest of Europe has to deal with Euro's. just like me.
Here in The Netherlands they like to switch out the dollar symbol with the euro symbol.
Such a rip off!!
