stick with your instinct mayne.
Dont be afraid to reinvest, if you decide ones not working out for you; but make sure its a solid choice....as in, youve fully worked both machines. Dont skip town on either one, just because of what other people say.
Really, its not about redundancy either. We all have redundant peices. I have a computer, it can do **** everything! i have headphones, why do i need speakers? i have a triton, it has a sampler, and sequencer why do ineed that? wtf, i have 2 keyboards, i have a px7 it has a sequnencer why do ineed that? I have 2 turntables as well. oh wait, i also have a tape deck i can do all my recording on!
anyways, im being sarcastic, but my point is, that its about what works for dude. so long as he fully uses his equipment, he will learn from it.
with both pieces i guarentee youll get a diffearnt sound as well. I mean, just purely off of the "workflow' of each, you will get differant results. I personally think this is the best reason for you to own both.
alot of times when i want differant styles of beats, i go to differant equipment, it helps for inspiration, and i know what i can do, and how i like to work with each; test it out hombre. some examples for me are: for east coast, or underground i use strickly my mpc. If i want west coast ish, i will incorporate my triton. If i want dirty south, i will use my px7 and its synth sounds. If im bored, i will use my computer and explore my programs and efx, etc. If i wanna really show off my skills i will use fruity and make a banger.
