Truncating is cutting off the ends of the sample.
The ends you specify are what get cut off.
Let's say your sample is 1 - 1000 total length.
Now you don't like the very front of the sample so you highlight
data 1 - 100, hit truncate/do it and it will cut off that very beginning
of your sample. Now 1 - 100 data is gone, leaving 101-1000 but now on your machine you see what's left showing as 1 - 900. You following?
That's truncating, you highlight what you want to cut off and it gets cut out of the sample, the memory that the trash-canned data used is now returned to your total main memory.
