If you are pre-ordering, I would suggest you only do so with a retailer who doesn't charge your card until the item is shipped.

Yeah mate. Almost feels a bit unfair putting it all out there up for preorders when it's not even fully done yet.
We all know things in the software world can take a long time.
I won't be placing an order until it's all confirmed and done 100%.

I'm not really sure what people mean when they say 2.0 isn't done to be honest. Is software ever really done? Bugs are constantly found, and hopefully addressed with a new version release. I presume it's done enough at this point, that it's in beta. From I understand, there's usually a general beta period when something is released, during which bugs will be found and addressed prior to release. So the fact that it's "not done" to me doesn't necessarily mean it will impact release date. Also, let's be honest, it's Akai. An incomplete OS or software never stopped them from release a product! In all seriousness, maybe this history has made them factor in some extra time to aggressively beta test the software. In the same line with this, I assume 2.0 will open older 1.whatever projects as well right? Basically I had a Ren a few years back. I sold it after getting sick of the not to smooth workflow. Will I be able to open those projects with 2.0?

Regarding the optional internal hard drive, this came up on another forum as well. I would be shocked if it was not an option. I feel like I also feel like I read about internal hard drive option in multiple places when these units were leaked (though how reliable these sources were, I have no clue). The bay on the bottom seems pretty convincing. And actually a welcome change. I installed the HD on my 5000 and it wasn't a terrible process, but a little bay in the bottom is much easier. And I was actually wondering if I would void my warranty by opening up the machine to install an HD.

The HD question also makes me wonder if the RAM will be upgradable. Usually they advertise that pretty quickly. The specs aren't bad, but RAM is pretty cheap these days.

Yeah, my point is that's a pretty vague statement. They could be ironing out the last little details, or it could in it's infancy. I assume it's somewhere in between one of those extremes, hopefully more on the end of addressing smaller issues.

I call bulls@#$ here. It's all business and marketing. They want to release 2.0 when the units are in stores to buy. I've said it before but they want Touch, Ren and studio owners to upgrade to the X and Live. If they give them a whole new OS before they can buy the new gear they'll be less likely to upgrade.

I have no doubt they are still working on 2.0 and they will be after it is released but I'm guessing it's more a manufacturing thing at this point

Yeah, that may be true. Maybe it is done, but they're saying that it's not – to make it sound like they can't put it out to the world yet, just to "finish" it the moment the units are ready to hit the stores.

It's funny and sad how little trust people have in Akai. Obviously, it's been earned. I will say that I applaud them to some degree on not announcing these a year plus before release, and particularly for not opening up preorders in that time frame. I've definitely seen that happen before, particularly in the eurorack community. Seems kind of crazy. I don't mind putting in a preorder a few months out. I'll probably lose my cool if it stretches out much past that. But to me, making an announcement with a few months of delivery seems reasonable. All in all, though, this has been a pretty weird marketing campaign.

Q. can you bounce vst tracks to the stand alone

A. There is a feature you can use to bounce the vst tracks to audio files en load them up and do whatever you want with it

A. I can't go into that right now.

A. No the newer units don't have this feature anymore.

A. No it does not have a built in Synth, but it will be released with allot of key group sounds and they work just like a Synth.

A few other guys kept asking about the 'Only 8 audio tracks' thing but he said that he can't go into that right now but we don't have to worry because soon it will be a non existent problem. So I'm guessing they are still cooking up something new.

Anyway, I appreciate him for taking his time to answer so many questions he did a good job.
