i never did fancy using a touch screen, but that distance also crossed my mind.....all your controls are in the wrong place!

That picture with the toy robot arm is a little far fetched. That would mean you could barely reach the top 4 pads. Haha.

Found out the X also has a battery.

Both have automation. The X does not run on a battery.

If you haven't got any elbows you're basically screwed ergonomically, but assuming you have them, the wrist/arm rest can be used to brace your hand and forearm.

It's a fair point TBH, how comfortable is it going to be using a touchscreen over the kind of distance? Even with an elbow rest, if you are engaged in a lot of touchscreen action, is it sustainable for long sessions? The Live does seem more suited in this respect, although would definitely benefit from a 10" screen.

There's a lot more dedicated buttons and qlinks so presumably you can vary the way you work in ways you can't with the Live.

Here 's what l got that say the MPCx runs on a battery. If the lights go out the X will remain on while you're doing a project and you can power down.

As stated before (not sure if it was in response to you), that's the only article in existence that claims the X has a battery. There's no other independent source that confirms this. I believe Akai would mention this in the product specs. At this point I'd be inclined to say that the article you refer to is talking bollocks.

The battery is mentioned in the Akai video, but it's shown while specs for Live are playing.
