Think most users have already moved towards a PC anyway...

so, whos selling samplers ? :)

Yeah, looks like the ultimate mpc we been waiting for but I think I will wait a year before even considering. They will cut the prices in half anyways after a year like they've done all their products in the last decade. Workflow might even be worse because if the mpc software is inside the X hardware, not only is it being run by a weaker cpu/processor but the mpc software was meant to work with a mouse and a computer, so how will all these mouse functions be transferred over? They better have a way to do everything from the hardware, quick and easy, everything thought out. So how will they handle the workflow on this thing, do I need to go through like 3 screens and 5 button presses just to get to program edit? 2.0 needs big workflow improvements and things need to be graphically laid out better in certain places on the software and on the hardware screen. These are just my initial thoughts, looks great, great potential but really Akai, how much of our money do you need to waste till you finally make a hardware mpc, like 15 years later. At this point half the people that were interested in a hardware mpc, you turned them off by all the crap you been putting out over the years and never listening to actual mpc users. A lot of hardware heads they put their turntable in the closet. Everything went to pc/mac/daws/vsts, all those old keyboards, sound modules, outboard gear has been put in storage or thrown on eBay/craigslist. Everyone has their sample libraries on their computers now, people have spent tons of money of vsts and plugins and all these daws that you can make beats in. So like the guy said, you are way late with this mpc X, a large population has moved their music strictly to the computer realm. We have Gigabytes upon Gigabytes of sounds and samples now in the computer music age, so if you trying to convince me to slide all my crap back over to hardware realm and have audio tracks in this thing you better pack these babies with at least 128GB RAM and like a 1 TB HD or something, and just up the price to like $3000 ... sh*t... ill buy that.

I think this standalone is right on time. If they hit the mark on all functions they are claiming, all the first wave of pc/mac ditchers will snap it up, then it will sustain itself in sales with those on the fence and ditching in the next few years. I think there are probably a number of producers ready to close the laptop lid if they could find one centerpiece that will give them what they need and have speeds similar to computers and many are used to touch tablet music making already.

Yes I meant pad. Assigning pads within a program to a different output is great!
Yeah you would expect some sort of reply within a couple of days. I don't know. So far so good with products I ordered at that shop, and delivered on time. I don't know about the service for faulty products though.
Maybe it's wishful thinking, but the Live being available next Monday could be the right date, as it's just after Namm. Maybe the've already got them piled up, but by contract have to wait till after Namm so the bugs won't be twittered during Namm ;)

Seems that Baxshop has changed their delivery date. it went from 7 days to 26 weeks which is 6,5 months. I guess they just entered a date because they are clueless.

I hope that Akai will shed some light on this issue tommorow.

Yep, pre-order dates seem to be completely made up at random. Hold on to your money - the street price might drop some more once they actually release them.

And what's with all this MSRP nonsense? We don't get that in the EU, you can't advertise something as being reduced/discounted unless it was actually sold at the higher price for at least 28 days previously. You can't just make up some fictional 'was' price and then claim you've magically discounted it by hundreds of dollars.

Are you sure about that tutor. I see things listed in the UK with the RRP(recommended retail price/same thing as msrp) all the time still I'm sure.

Yes I'm very sure. A UK retailer can advertise an item as being discounted/on offer/on sale etc only if they have sold it at that higher price for at least 28 days.

The key point is whether or not the retailer (not manufacturer) is genuinely offering it at a discounted price based on their own selling history. If they aren't, then they are not allowed to claim it is being discounted, unlike Sweetwater for example, who are claiming that the MPC Live, at $1200, is already a 'saving' of $800. It's not a saving if it was never actually ever sold at $2000 (which is nearly £2000 in the UK!).
