That looks sweet

Now where's the secret weapon that Roland and NI supposed to have had?
MPC haters will make up anything to keep lovers of the mpc away. NAMM is running so we should of heard by now.

Ok so how much RAM is inside the hardware and is it upgradable? Needs to have a TON of RAM if we are going to be making beats andddd recording audio tracks in that thing standalone. If I'm making a beat, and recording audio tracks, with effects, samples... Is there even enough RAM on this thing to work like that standalone? This thing is way late, the MV8800 been out for like 10 years and this is the closest thing to that at the moment, except touch screen and color led lights and all that new cool looking tech. Until I hear they packed this thing with a TON of RAM I Would still go mpc 2500 over this all day. I can also get a fantom X which has similar features and more minus a touch screen. Will all the functions of the software be available in standalone on the hardware??? I cant see this being possible. Can we rrealllllyyyy shut off the computer and get to work like we could on the hardware like we did in the Mpc software. BTW besides having a touch screen they are super late, mv8800 and fantom x have a lot of the basic sampling, sequencing capabilties, and tons more, this thing needs to be leaps above any mv8800 fantom mpc4000 2500 5000 standalone wise for it even to b a thought. This thing needs to pack the power of a harware multitrack recorder and then some. We only have a short liat of specs. Im not giving Akai any money till they make it clear what Im buying and have all the beta testers have made their experiences clear

Never heard anything about Ram, and from what I have heard and read it only gives 8 audio tracks. Now dealing with the software 2.0 its a whole different story.

I plan on just using this to do my drums keeping that wonderful sequencer I miss and being able to export my files out to my computer and I will handle my drum patterns in either Reason 9 or Studio One 3. So for me I don't need a whole lot of power. There are specs out there though.

I do know you can upgrade a hard drive then add external hard drives of your choice that way you can store a lot.

Yeah I'm with you on that one. I know you can upgrade the HDD, and have and external. I didn't even know it had Ram but now I know. Is this thing running on Linux?

Yeah some version of Linux not Windows Embedded like the prototype.

Now Masada said 8 audio tracks is a non issue in future updates so don't worry about it. Maybe they will be doing some hard drive/ sd card streaming trickery. Maybe 2gb will be enough if that's the case.

2gb RAM is a lot of RAM for a sampler. MV8800 does 8 tracks audio and max 512mb RAM. It is efficient with RAM though. If the Live and X are coded right, they will be efficient too. I started on Cubasis in 2000 with 8 audio tracks on a Win 98 machine and had plenty of spare juice even after 8 tracks and plugin fx. I think I had a whole 1gb on that machine. My Gotharman Little DeFormer 2 sampler is the expanded version and I think only has 512mb per bank. Two banks (A and B) and 100 min sampling time on each bank.

yeah right... but on the MV and previous standalone MPCs... that ram was dedicated strictly to sample time and sequences etc.. user added stuff.

I think these new MPCs aren't set up that way.

2 GIG RAM Is definitely enough for me for what I am going to do and how I am going to use it. No doubt. 8 tracks of audio also is enough for me. I have Studio One 3 and Reason 9 do mix and master my tracks so no worries. My big selling point was to be able to transfer my drum patterns to the PC without recording I can do it via USB that's dope. Next was getting back to that MPC sequencer and tightness. I can work faster without having to fix certain midi notes even if the buffer is set right or quantize is on or off still gotta fix drums or melodies. Now I am good once I get that and I can get crazy. I work off the LPD8 which is cool for traveling.

Then we should be good then, if the MV only has 512mb not even gig, then one shouldn't worry cause 2 gigs is definitely more than 512 mb.

No worries. Nice!

wow, 2gb Ram only!? for samples and audio tracks? How can this be a Daw/centerpiece of a hardware studio when we are talking 8 tracks? You know how many tracks some peoe have running in a protools session? 8 GB should be minimum I think, 4 is pushing it, 2 is not enough i dont think unless they have some kind of new memory technology

I say we will be straight, Akai knows they gotta get it right, we are going to be ok.
