There's definitely some different ergonomics to consider when you have a touch screen at 90 degrees to your working position - normally you'd be pushing down, leaning over the MPC, with the X you are also pushing forwards. Obviously you could try dropping the angle down to accommodate your own preferences, assuming it locks nicely in whatever angle you set it to.

I think I read in that 20 page pdf that it has 8 positions from flat to vertical to lock it in at.

I like my iPad at an angle. Not flat, not too much vertical. Probably 30° angle

I'm sure the X will offer several angles, just like 2500 does, for example.

Limitations in the "standalone" mode is great in my view.. I think people have forgotten what limitation means in this day an age. They want limitless, they want it all. You'll be far more creative with limits then with endless possibilities from what I've learned. Being presented with crucial decisions during the creative process.

It's expensive. If you can't afford it, you can't afford it. If you don't see the value in it then it's not for you. Complaining or arguing with people that are excited for it is pointless.

I get people are starving for 2.0. But I feel a 2.0 thread should be launched so everyone can just go there to complain. Personally I don't own any New Akai products. I have a 2000XL for personal use. In my studio I offer Maschine Studio as the Beat product if anyone needs it when renting out. I make music on hardware most of the time.

I'm excited. I hope it works. I pre-ordered last week. I hope no one else does so I get in on the first batch

Agreed. It seems that the biggest haters on standalone hardware seem to deliver the most derivative, mannerist music; completely indistinguishable from the pack, musically.

The X does not have the battery icon. However that icon is new, it's not there in 1.9. Perhaps it's an indicator that you are in standalone mode?

There is no battery on the X.

Ok, thanks for clearing that up for me.

I love this video at NAMM that time stretch is definitely nice! But I do love the Time stretch in Reason 9 and Studio One, but this is a nice feature to have on the MPC's.

It looks cool, but I highly doubt the workflow and array of tools will touch the 2.0 standalones.
