Going from MPC Studio to 2000 question

HI guys, so I've had the MPC studio for almost 5 months i think, and it's been... alright. I'm really not a fan of the fact that you have to be connected to a computer (but I still need to use one to record). However I do really enjoy the fact that it comes with a sound library, which from what I understand, most people don't like stock sounds and an MPC, but I don't want to have to find records or songs to sample for drum breaks, as I'm planning on using this for more pop/rock oriented work and not really hip hop, as just about every MPC demo will show. I kind of want my drum samples to sound "stale", like Cocteau Twins.

What I'm trying to get at though is, with the MPC 2000 could I assign the drums from a drum machine (for example a Roland TR-505) to the pads? Or is there any way that is a common method to get drum sounds onto an MPC that doesn't require sampling from a record or CD? Is what I'm trying to do best fulfilled with the MPC or should I try something more tailored to what I'm trying to accomplish? Sorry for all of the questions and I've tried searching this topic but "MPC" and "drum machine" don't lend itself to the best of results.

well.. there are a few ways to have an mpc 2000 play 505 drums.

1) you can sample those sounds into the mpc from either a real 505 or from sample packs etc... (the 505 is a rompler so samples are just as good)

2) you can load up samples (transfer them) from the computer to the 2000 (if you have a 505 kit on the computer) .. basically you would do that via floppy disk or what ever media you are using with the 2000. Essentially when you then save your work, next time you would be loading up those sounds again... just like you did the first time.

3) use midi to sequence an actual 505... and just save the sequence data.
