So it's official that the standalone X and Live run the exact same 2.0 software as the mac/pc version and I have yet to see the view below shown on either of the standalone units. I guess that means a multitrack audio view will not be in the software. If this is the case then 2.0 is pretty much the same as 1.9 when it comes to handling audio.

How did you connect those dots? Multi track audio view not in software, therefore 2.0 is same as 1.9 to handling audio? First of all, they're running the same software, but clearly the UI is adapted to each device - you wouldn't expect the PC/MAC software to have the same UI as the touch screen devices - things will get moved/re-arranged.

Next, its pretty clear that 2.0 on Mac/PC or stand alone will support full audio tracks.

Nice shadow of the drummer effect! It was abstract because idea of the MPC was to have a backing drummer for soloists, and here, you hear and see drums playing in the back of a drum machine interview

As much as I would love to see the same view in the standalone (because it makes so much more sense) it's not going to be a deal breaker. You will practically have the same just that will be split into 2 modes (grid edit mode and audio track mode).

But would love to see such a few in stand alone because it would give you a quick overview of your project without having to relying on your computer. hopefully will get it in a updated version.

I didn't come to this conclusion solely because of this video but the fact that neither Akai nor their beta testers have ever shown a computer screen except for one. The one tester thst did show 2.0 running on a monitor showed the exact same audio editing view that is on the X/Live. No linear multi audio track view. Yes there are adaptive views but I've seen a multitrack audio view on an IPad mini so ...... i don't plan on getting the x or live but I would love that functionality in the software.

This is a huge feature and Akai would be showcasing it if it was functional. Also an akai associate stated that we will be highly disappointed if we think 2.0 will be anything like a daw.

I hope akai proves me wrong.

I believe the beta testers aren't allowed to show anything computer based yet.

it's odd that a limitation of 8 audio tracks wont allow you to get 2 for 1 if using mono instead of stereo... there was a time when using MPCs was all mono.

And if you think how much of the problems now came from plugins (esp. x64 ones), it
will be a lot more stable.
