I really don't like the idea of 8 tracks and no VST in standalone mode. The music we produce these days are a lot VST and effects drivin. So no standalone mode for me on this moment.

Have to ask. Where did you get the MPCx lags power as a standalone? How are Vsts suppose to work in standalones when we are going to end up dumping our drums back in a DAW anyway?

If you need to go back to a DAW or MPC V2.0 to get VST instruments. Is the MPC Live or X a real standalone?

For our sort of music we produce these days. We really need VST. I really love MPC. I did own all flagship models (accept the 5000). But to be honest. If it can't run VST, i still need native power from the computer. So the standalone option won't work for us.
8 tracks!!!! Are you serious? A project needs 100 to 200 tracks for vst and audio.

For me this is not a hobby. Our productions are club bangers in West Europe and the Caribean. If Akai says standalone. It has to be a standalone for 2017 capabilities. And not a standalone for the capabilities of 10 years ago.

Again i'm not a MPC hater. I own 2 x touch 1 x Ren and 1 x studio. We have 3 studio's. And if we see in the next 9 months and with enough testing good reactions on these new machine. We wil replace it with new MPC's. but i really don't think the power of these machines will be enough for modern productions in standalone mode. I'm sorry

It seams that this view isn't available in stand alone mode or even on the harware side at all. It would be a great asset. I also expected something like this on the touch screen, it may not be a deal breaker to me but it is an essential feature.

It seams that this view isn't available in stand alone mode or even on the harware side at all. It would be a great asset. I also expected something like this on the touch screen, it may not be a deal breaker to me but it is an essential feature.

Yeah, a condensed version of that view (minus the track/sample inspector along the bottom).. Lame they haven't thought to put this in. Making me rethink purchase tbh :/

Will you be traveling a lot? Live wood be best pick. If your stable the the X would be perfect.

Actually I won't be traveling at all, so I don't really care about mobility.

However, I'm not sure that I can justify the X's price over the Live and that's because the X doesn't have any extra feaures, from what I understand. Sure, all the knobs and extra buttons help with workflow, but the Live can do everything the X can for half the price (correct me if I'm wrong).

Dunno if confirmed? Poss dealbreaker for me personally if it's not there tho. Or maybe I'm just not grasping the mpc workflow, never owned one, maybe its just as fast/flexible without arrangement view somehow? Always wanted a 1000 to team with my OT but never copped one..

In this video you can see Hellfire record multiple tracks at once so he's definitly inside track mode, but when you look at the screen of the mpc (2.0) you'll just see an updated version of the track view we allready have in 1.9.6/1.9.7:

He could just be referring to the same way you could always arrange a song on mpc hardware (apparently?). That's not a visual arrangement view tho. Be cool if it's there tho..

No way!? X has almost 'button per function' and the 16 knobs kills 4. In quantity and also they have display per knob so you can see what they've assigned to them. Way enhanced UI over the Live...

My bad, by UI I thought of the screen UI aka the software in the MPC's.

Don't get me wrong, all of these extra buttons are very useful but the features are exactly the same between these new models and that doesn't justify the double price of the X over the Live, imho.

I just pre-ordered the mpc live, looking forward checking it out and seeing what it can do

One thing i havent seen confirmation on is the specs of the drag and drop. I hope it will be able in 2.0 to drop audiotracks from the DAW (in my case ableton) to the 2.0 timeline in a audio track.

Can anyone confirm this is possible?
