CF reader doesnt work/no ATAPI option/ ill pay u to help lol

hey yall, first post. new mpc owner. before yall tell me to refer to the numerous forums that deal with this, let me tell ya i have and i CANNOT find an answer. so here we go-

i installed the addonics CF reader. (https://www.neweggbusiness.com/Product/ ... oCYD_w_wcB)

i hooked it up to the mini molex connector that was connected to the floppy. no problem. the cable is good and works.

i hooked up the IDE to the ATAPI slot. 80 wire, 40 pin. http://www.ebay.com/itm/280511052244?_t ... EBIDX%3AIT

when i try to load- i get NO ATAPI OPTION. i get floppy, from and the scsis. now HERE is where its weird!

-im on OS 1.20
-i tested the card reader using a USB to IDE, and it works and reads fine in PC and MAC
-the molex cable works and powers the floppy drive i used to have still powers on.
-i am using a sandisk 128 mb card AND a transcend 1GB card.
-i have flipped the IDE cable around
-my jumpers are set on master, hell ive tried the jumpers on every setting imaginable.

so basically-this means the problem must be a bad IDE cable (to my knowledge thats incredibly unlikely) 2 bad cards or basically a busted IDE port? every other forum post has figured their issue out but to my knowledge i cant come up with any logical reason why im not at least getting the ATAPI option.

It could be that the cards you're using are incompatible. I have some cards that if i put it in my XL, the screen looks scrambled when I turn it on.

I then started using Sandisk Extreme IV UDMA and the problems vanished.

so i got the 1gb CF and still no ATAPI after re-hooking up everything. i've tested everything but the IDE cable but that seems so unlikely that its the problem?

I've had the exact same problem. But in my case it worked just some times and stopped working at all. I ordered a new IDE cable (this time a 40 thread cable) and problem solved. It's wierd cause I've used the same type of cable before and it worked fine. Even this one worked for some time. So I would try with a different IDE cable.

I have the star tech version of the Cf card reader topic of this discussion. Im having the same issue of no atapi option after os upgrade and cf card reader install. I notice that my Cf reader does not have 40 pins but 39 with the one in the middle missing. Could anyone shed some light as to if that is the reason why this Cf reader does not work
