Thanks. Can't wait for the products to come out. And thank you for stopping by we appreciate it.

I've been lurking here for years, no doubt as have many other people connected to Akai Pro.

Whilst I'm not involved with Akai's global marketing, surely you can see why they've gone with a few known artists to help get the word out on the new MPC's. Quite often these feature artists haven't had very long to familiarise themselves with a product, this early into it's existence.
I have no doubt there will be more official and unofficial videos coming that will have everyone amped.

Exciting times ahead for all of us!

Bear in mind that we are Akai Pro Australia. We probably know very little other than what has already been made public. What is it you wanted to know?

Thanks for replying!

I just want to know if its possible to sample from the USB as I can with the 1/4" inputs?

Also, are the units ready to ship :D

I've got an MPC Touch, probably gonna hold off on the standalones for a while. Someone may have answered this already, but my question is about the internal storage on the X and Live.

When you connect them to your PC does the internal storage show up as a removable drive? If so are the files on the X and Live saved as regular MPC files (.xpj) so they can be pulled right up in the windows software or AAX/VST plugin without any additional steps?

I imagine they would for simplicity sake, but I've not seen anyone mention that yet.

Good lord is this trash. This is arguably worse than the Metro Boomin Touch video lol. Like... he chopped a repeating loop at the spot it repeats for a full minute lmao. You only needed one pad for that, bro.

Give me a free Live, and I can actually make use of it instead of letting these FL producers who have never touched an MPC make demo videos. Or how about you enlist some producers who actually know how they work, Akai? Smart move turning off the comments lol.

Hmmmnnn.. personaly I don't like to critisice ones creativity, I liked the beat and the sample (I would make it a little bit more lively but each to their own) and in the end it won't matter how you got from point A to point B because the crowd won't know and I bet they don't care..

When you go from standalone mode to controller mode the internal harddrive (16 gigs) won't pop up like a normal drive would. However the 2,5 inch drive that the user can put inside the units will pop up like an regular drive. And you'll have direct acces to your files. :smoker:

I haven't really goosed them....I just seriously cant believe that they are suggesting using an MPC without a computer is some sort of abstract test...

People have been doing the Standalone Challenge for nearly 30 years...

Or am I missing something??

Yep this is exactly how I felt. It's as if they are saying that you can use it in standalone mode but why would you.

I see that the shipping date for the live has changed to may now in allot of outlets. That's shit

I honestly think they would do themselves a favour if they were to get rid of all these "well known" producers and picked a few members of the community who can actually make some decent music.
Some of these standalone challenges have been terrible.

IMO the problem is that these guys are not really doing anything that shows off the unique selling points of the actual product. What he did in that video could be done with anything, even a basic iPad app. He says it was so 'crazy', but, really? 'Crazy' is watching one of those early Jeremy Ellis Maschine promo videos. Akai do not appear to be selecting these guys based on their performance skills. I would love to see them give the Live to someone like Tim Kroker, David Haynes or Fresh Kils.

Give them a week with it and see what they can come up with to show off what's capable. But to be fair, I don't think we are target audience for this type of endorsement video, we had the NAMM interviews and the Sonic State stuff. But as the product is still obviously not finished yet, I don't think we're going to see any really juicy demos until until it's actually released.

not good I fear these units wont be in full circulation to summer, best thing is to put it out of ur mind.

call up the companies at the beginning of march and see what the stock levels are.

If this is true than I suppose it will be like Andy said (March/April).
But the Stores here in the Netherlands say 15 more weeks (man thats 4 months).

My expectation was Februari and than Andy said March/April. That was such a let down but hey it's okay. But May/June f*ck that.. Who wants to wait that long..??
