I'm thinking a Live, and if I need my soft synths, I can hook up a computer like the MAC Mini, or Intel NUC -- a CPU w/o a screen. All edits can happen in the Live screen, and now I've got a massively portable sound palace. Take it to a friend's place, start a few loops, and jam through the night. Put 200 GB SSD drive in the bay, and you can carry all the samples you can imagine with you, and then record to disk as you go.

I've been struggling to make the Ipad app work like this, so I'll be pulling the trigger on a LIVE as soon as it's stocked.

I like the idea of a massively capable, fully portable music box. It's like the next best thing to an acoustic guitar.

A crying shame.

Considering Fabfilter, Melda, Soundtoys, Slate, Softube... basically any quality mixing plugs have some degree of latency, I can say I will never mix a song in MPC. I'm still all in on the Live, but I really think their software team is not up to par with the competition. They've had over 4 years to figure this out. If they give me PDC, sidechain, and portamento, I could see myself doing a ton of work in MPC 2.0.

Not having PDC is unforgivable in 2017…that must be said.
I'd love to see Akai fix that before releasing the software…not a good look if they don't fix it AND they have been aware of it...not a professional move.

I've always found that type of thinking super obnoxious. It's often exhibited by some older guys who are really stubborn and so proud of their "real" and "true" gear, and all younger cats using software and new devices are in some sort of inferior league in their eyes. That's a very elitist way of thinking and exhibits a certain degree of insecurity in their part. If you're confident about yourself, you don't need to do that.
When you reach musical and some sort of spiritual maturity, you truly don't care what others are using.

I understand why some are not interested in new gear, but hating those who are is just very childish.
I know a dude in my hometown who has an SP 1200, SP1200, two MPC 3000s, and this week he got an Emulator. He's often said he couldn't make his music with software, and I get that. But he's not one to diss those doing it. Best to keep it that way or you'll just appear an old fool.

Sorry let me clarify myself here. I'm a big standalone user . I own a 1000, 2000, and a 4000. I hate software controllers. I am not at all questioning why you would use one.

What I'm saying is that akai seem to be saying that using a standalone limits you. They are suggesting that its a challenge to use a standalone mpc.

Ok cool, I feel no harm done. I was just saying why I was getting. would like to hear from others.

Last reason I'm getting it, it looks sexier than a mofo lol lmao

Akai seems to be saying or saying the stand alone limits you? That's subjective.
Being limited on a standalone depends on the knowledge of the end user and how he/she knows their machine.

I had a 2000xl and did all I wanted on it. I did complete whole songs on it.

With the X I find it hard to believe it will limit you. The things it can do is bananas. With that beast of a Machine in stand alone mode I could do a whole song with vocals and all what I want to do on it, with just that alone.

Peace

And that's why I want a stand alone and I was saying. Stand alone I don't have to worry about that especially when doing my drums. Yeah!!!!

u might have a **** PC or a good PC poorly configured as I have run multiple vst with no latency

I have a Surface Pro 3 (i5+8gig ram)
I also have a Vaio Tap 21 (i5+16gig ram)

Both should be sufficient to run the software + vst's.

Exactly, I never once had to fix the reso on the MPC2000xl, and set preferences etc.

Whether it's quantizing, latency, or jitters, some of us are not having such a great experience, dudes need to remember I am working with the LPD8, so I look forward to getting the X and that will be my center piece, especially, for the drums, percussion etc. Plus I get back to having all my bass sounds on pads and add them in my tracks, but I will still use some times the keyboard to put them in. I kinda like it. :-D But these dudes seem not to understand everyone is not experiencing what they are. So Stand alone is back for me.

I don't want people worrying about what I is being done in my studio. If I say I am experiencing some thing it is what it is. I get that X I don't have to worry about that.

I just sold my MPC Touch an hour ago and my 2500 a few weeks ago, So basically I'm not a MPC user anymore. Only have the MPK mini.
I'm going to be pissed if I have to wait till may/june before I can get the 'X'.

I don't want to pre-order, makes no sense...

Yeah I bet a lot of people who will be buying Live/X will be buying it for the standalone capabilities.
But it will be nice to give it some polish AFTER finishing the song in standalone mode.

Goddamn I cant wait for the day have the X.

Me either, I don't pre-order nothing, I learned not to 10 years ago. Just in case a COUPON comes lol You never know. LOL hahahahaaa, I don't like the idea of a company holding my money like that and especially there is no clear date it drops.
