Hmm... I'm confused. I don't use Reason, so probably am not grasping what you are meaning.

You want to be able to set a quanitization filed using % rather then 1/8, 1/16,1/32, or 1/96????

The T/C field itself is used for quantization. You can adjust or swing the quantization with
the Swing field. You have the ability to use Swing to adjust the notes that for example
were played at 1/16 if set Swing to 75% then it would actually be a 1/8th note. So you have
ability to adjust all they down to the next quantization.

TC field: Here you can specify the note value that will be the minimum unit for timing correction (quantization).

Swing field: In this field you can specify the amount of swing by which the backbeats will be moved forward or backward. This will be displayed if you have selected 1/8, 1/16, 1/32, or 1/64 in the TC field.

i think he wants to adjust how accurate the time correction is

if he has it on 1/16th

100% would be exactly quantized to 16ths

and any percent less would be that close or far away from accurate 1/16th time correction

it's really no swing, but a type of humanization

if he plays his drums and wants them to be quantized by 16ths but not perfect, he would adjust the % accordingly

i think this is what he means

i don't use reason myself, i just got it, but haven't used it so i don't know how things are handled in there

Thanks Joe for the explanation. I can visualize this and can see the
benefit of it. Would be nice to have both on the MPC.

I would suggest to Ikke to email it into [email protected] so we
can see it possibly added. In OS 1.70 release, I do see several Bug Fixes
that I have requested (which makes the machine that much more useful
to me) in this release, which should make my live experiences much funner, as I won't have to deal with the Workarounds that I've had to use until they implemented it.

I would suggest when sending in the explaination, not only include
Joe's explaination, but also indicate how it might be able to be applied
with the current UI.

I would say in this case, what might be able to be done would be to
make it so that when you are in the "Main" window and you go to the
first block to where the T/C box is. Make it so that when you move the
cursor to the word "Swing" , it highlights and you can move the Jog Wheel
and "Swing" will move to "Human". Then you can change the percentage
next to it.

So that it used to say this:

T/C 1/16
(240)
Swing: 50%

will now say:

T/C 1/16
(240)
Human: 99%

Also they will want to make a field in the Timing Correct Popup Window
as well, so it can be applied to current sequences, not just on input.

Now that you've given them a place in the GUI, all they have to do
is add code :)

the easier you make it for them, the more likely it will appear, though
there is never any guarantees. It's been over 2 years that MPC users
have been asking Akai to rectify the slow Multi change issue, and it is now
just appearing.

Can't wait to try it out with my live set, as I have several examples of that Bug to verify that it really is fixed.

I think this would help for now like glide talk about shift the time a number of ticks.

Well, it means you can use the slider to move the start/loop/etc. cursor to the right and to the left in sample edit.

In one of the sample edit windows move the left slider completely down to the bottom. Push the active button, then move the slider upwards to move the cursor further to the right. Release the active button and move the slider back to the bottom. You don't move the cursor with the active button released. Once you're down push the active button again to move the cursor further with the slider and so on. It also works the other way around.

So you can scroll the cursor through the sample with the slider. Works pretty good!

Cheers!

Thanks! Yeah it works like a charm. This will defitinely help with fine tuning loops and chops.

I agree 100%. I love this new feature!

ah yes. I know that. 'Earlier' and 'later'. I takes ages to get a rumbling drum

By glide Sat Jan 08, 2005 8:14 pm
yhea it's not quite like humanizing as huminizing is more of a random algorithm.. while shift notes> shifts all the notes the same, good to add a rush or a laid back feel..

agree though it's a must have feature and I think Rene sort of hit the nail with his sugestion, hope Akai see it the same way..

Are they ever going to correct the spelling of CENTRE on the splash screen... I don't know what dumb-asses think it's spelt CENTER, but they're wrong.

By elmacaco Sat Jan 08, 2005 11:45 pm
In other countries it's spelled that way. just not in America.
