Support and discussion for all of Akai’s modern standalone MPCs including the MPC X / X SE, MPC Live 1, 2 & 3, MPC One / One+, MPC Key 37/61.

That type of marketing is Akai 101 though - they always have these missteps in their approach. FWIW, I think the FCC leak was unintentional and actually threw their "plans" off. Not that they would have been any better. Everyone here should remember all the marketing missteps in the past. It's not going to change just because they're releasing a new MPC.

In terms of the competition being lightweight right now - possible, but NI doesn't announce things until they're ready to go. For all we know they have a standalone in play right now too. If I'm NI and I have a standalone in play, I'm happy as hell right now because Akai is paying for the hype, and I can come right in and capitalize on it. No mudslinging my way, no advertisement costs. Just think if they announce and release a standalone before Akai can get theirs on the street. I can't remember details, but a similar circumstance unfolded with one of their products in the past - I think. May have been the Ren in fact.

Either way, I did preorder an X because I like Akai's products. But I'm still working on this next project in the meantime. I personally don't care when it comes in, because the store can't take my money until it ships, and I'm still able to be productive on this Touch.

Yeah, I think that mpc Live is going to sell like crazy. It's fairly priced with a ton of features. The X on the other hand won't be selling too many units I think.

Yeah I have to agree, the Live will sell greatly, Akai knows. But I am one of those that will have the X. :-) and those that can afford, which is a lot of people, but that Live is going to get some real love.

It's pretty much the same product in a different casing and double price. The price difference can't be justified by 3 inches on the touch screen, qlinks or the extra outs, imho.

uMMMMMMM
Bro you forgot, the 8 CV/Gates, 8 outs, bigger touch screen (which I love), and it can tilt, doper jog wheel (might not matter to ya) and it looks SEXIER! LOL

yeah I dont buy the notion that X wont sell cos of the price so many things people buy is over a grand like cars, flat screen tv's, car sound systems, hi fi systems, people buy rims, jewelry holidays, computers, laptops, shit for they house like sofas, beds, tables and chairs, boilers and repairs.

There are so many things that people spend a grand on more on like so they will buy the X if they want it.

think of how many hobbyists have some monitors at home that cost dam near a grand; so some sound modules or motif keyboard or any other 66 or 88 key keyboard or stage piano that cost a G.

Loads of non-professional are increasingly willing to spend alot of money on these devices, and consider historically these devices were way more expensive, like how much was the 4K when it came out or the MPC5K?

mofos still brought that, along the the MV's; so if u want it u'll find the cash.

Those who were put off by the screen on the ol skool Ren will be interested in the X; also those who have old legacy units like the 4K, 2500 or 2000 or 2000xl, may also be likely buyers for the X.

So both units will sell but the X is defo the one that will sell the most as was the case with studio.

That's me all the way :smoker: I was an 2000xl user and the X is my option.

You think more X's will sell more than Lives? I don't see it, but you could be right though we would have to see.

Yeah, even though i cant afford it. I did make room for it in my budget. Cause this MPC X is what i wanted since my days with the MPC 5000. How i wish this was available back then, but now that it is here soon i just got to buy it. If i need one? Maybe, maybe not. But do i want one? OHH Yeah.

Also, the classic Akai cursor keys and << < LOCATE > >> do matter to me a lot.

They were saying it's a 2.0 thing... which'll bone both units.
