The Touch pads are better than the XL pads IMO. I still prefer Maschine pads overall, more sensitive out of the box, but Ren, Studio & touch pads are still great pads, no complaints.

2000xl/Se Pads are better to me, they are responsive and when I had mines I loved the pads, so much that I went and got the fat pads, and oh my gawd!!!! Studio black pads are dope, but I would prefer the 2000xl. You could hit them in the corners of the pad and they were still responsive. They felt good too, gave you that real Hip Hop feel.

Here's my video of top favorite Pianos, and me playing. I would love to put those keys on the MPCX pads and go crazy!!! It's going to be bananas.
I think it would be smart to put some sounds on your hard drives, the one you can put in the X or Live or by USB and us SSD and rock out on the pads, I did that on the 2000xl.

I'm way ahead of you Danoc. I've got a huge library of Akai formatted sampling CDs which I started to convert to .akp programs for the X. I've got just about every instrument covered. From bread and butter instruments like pianos, bass, strings, brass, etc to vintage and modern synths, I've got all I need to keep me busy and inspired so I'll be able to compose my tracks exclusively within the X.

So far I have 20+ gigs of multi sampled instruments converted. I have a ton more to go through, lol. I also have a bunch of soundfonts and giga files I want to convert as well. Not too mention my favorite presets from my VST instruments. I'm using Extreme Sample Converter to handle the conversion so the whole process is pretty seamless and straightforward.

When the X drops I want to outfit it with a 2TB internal SSD drive with all my drumkits, samples and instruments onboard. 8) :P

If they're sending them out for 3rd parties to demo and make vids for (as per World Of Stereo's IG account), it's safe to assume the OS is pretty much done.

I always wait if a new product comes to market. I really want to see if the new MPC is so good if Akai says.

I already own the Touch and with V2.0, I will be up to date with the newest and greatest. If I see the X is really good I will buy it. But i think I wait for a update. Because 8 stereo tracks DAW is for us not to go standalone. Then i will invest in a laptop with MPC V2.0 and a MPC controller.

Which storage option are you guys going for, sd card, HDD/SSD, or usb stick?

I think I'll be getting a 1TB HDD, not sure if SSD is the right option. They are still kinda expensive and I'm not sure how much the MPC would benefit from the SSD's high speeds?

Not really. They could be just demoing standalone for now. 2.0 is downloadable software so they can send out the hardware anytime and they just put 2.0 online to download when it is ready.
