I always say, learn the software properly first. Otherwise it can be confusing and way too much!
The hardware just let you use the software with the controller.

Even the free Push 2 videos by Ableton are great when you need them.

By the time we all get our Xs, Lives and 2.0s our Akai gear and software will technically be legacy/vintage status. It's kind of genius actually. Akai will be the first to put out products that are completely new and throwback at the same time.

This is what I ended up doing. I saw Guitar Center had a dang near brand new Studio Black used for $199 and I immediately bought it. I wish I could check to see if it has ever been registered, so I can get up on that 2.0 update for free, if it ever comes out.

Speaking on that, I wonder how Akai determines date of purchase as it relates to the 4 month window.

It took me a few weeks to get the flow of Ableton down coming from Logic. If you're entirely new to DAWs but have a solid grip on production, I'd say it'll take a month or so depending on how much free time you have. Ironically, I switched over to Ableton because of the Touch not working well in Logic (sync issues). But for just about everything people voice their concern about with about MPCs, it's not an issue. PDC, portamento, sidechain, accessing VSTs painlessly... all good. If you get Ableton Suite and the Max trial, you can grab Isotonik PrEditor and customize your Push display/controls.

Moral of the story: Akai is blowing this release in epic fashion. I was jumping at the standalone MPCs 2 months ago, but their recent silence speaks volumes.

Apart from the video not being informative in any way, The X only got some love for 4 minutes.. This whole video is a waste of storage space. seems as if they needed to upload something because the folks at MPC-Forums are losing temper..

Thanks, I will use the 30 day trial of Ableton and see how I like it. Gonna watch a few beginner tutorials first, get an idea.

The westendj video shows us nothing new unfortunately and it makes me wonder, does AKAI have any other employees or is it just Andy? At least he didn't use the same demo from NAMM.

Heads up folks. Sweetwater as well as a few other shops just dropped $200 off the regular price of Maschine Studio. Could NI be preparing to announce their next Maschine flagship?

I'm going to give Akai till the end of the month to come correct with the X and MPC 2.0 software. During that time I'm also prepared to jump ship if a competitor drops something better be it NI, Ableton, Roland or other.

Now that's interesting. Price is also lowered on NI's website as well.

akai deserve to get pipped at the post by Ni due they lack of organisation; this is just poor; some interesting comments in the thread below:

I wonder if this 2.0 drops in may will that mean that the people who purchased the touch within the last 4 months no longer get a free 2.0?

I have absolutely NO loyalty to Akai especially after my experience with the MPC Renaissance and it's poorly implemented software.

If NI or better yet ROLAND comes out with a standalone sampler, I'll jump on it in a heart beat!!
I'm so glad I still have my MV8800!!!
