I watched that video and all it did was get me hyped again LOL Man That Live is dope, I can only imagine how dope that X is. The Live is definitely dope, you can layer up to four sounds, four layers of effects. Akai might have given some dope effects. I haven't seen anyone show case them. They really did a good job. I love clip feature. In Studio One though its so easy to have say 96 bpm and then switch to 54 bpm right on the spot on the sequencer in Studio One, I love that. This seems like it has that also. Yeah the Live is what I am definitely aiming for, it it works out I will get the X later. I really don't like bulky machines like that, that's why didn't get the 4000, and stayed with the 2000XL, cause the XL was compact and didn't have any vents and stayed cool.

Just my thinking, Akai should have just built a straight up stand alone, no hybrid, just straight up stand alone. Could of put a HDMI or DVI in put on it so you can add any size screen to it. That would of been dope! Make a permanent tilt screen like they did the MPC 60 but with touch screen, that would win all the stand alone cats over big Time! That's what I was really looking for. 2.0 software come with Live Ima keep it right in the box and never open it!

If it operates 100% standalone, what's it to you if it also acts as a controller? How do you lose?

Nukai came back with these mutherfluckers!

The friggen thing is loaded!
They put extra sh1t in there that they didn't even NEED to put on there!
Dont really need an 2.5 bay with the decent price of a large SD card these days,
but you get one anyway like the audience at the oprah show!

I thought the toraiz was pretty snazzy, it least it looked the part
But I heard that it was more of a DJ phrase sampler then a drum machine

Akai just came back and stabbed the toraiz through the heart

Exactly how I look at these! Its an MPC on steroids. Forget the DAW aspects and 2.0. They are MPCs to begin with and its at a level I always wanted an MPC to be at. :smoker:

Thats how I felt about the toraiz when I first saw it
It looked like they just took everything good about every other machine and put it into one super machine. Which is what I would have been doing from day 1 if I was in charge of these things.

But then you see the price and you hear about its limited functionality and it was the right idea but missed the target. These look like that same right idea, just not skimping and putting all the good stuff in one box, and hitting the target.

Also I was just thinking about the 2.5 bay and now that I think about it, as a producer I dont really need to carry every drum sound in the world around with me, that often makes things more cluttered and difficult IMO.

But with the new "clip launching" capabilities, you probably would want a terabyte drive, which would be unaffordable as an SD, in the bay to hold a whole nights full of clips for a live performance.

So once again they've thought of everything this time.

Yeah. Except it doesn't exist yet, apart from some demo units.

Has anyone noticed that every time Andy Mac shows the MPC workflow, be it the ren or the live, 90% of what he does is so basic it can be done on any MPC to this date. And while he performs this basic stuff, he enthuses about how easy he can play some pads, go to a new track, record some pads, put a different sample on a pad, and it's all so easy and fluid and the screen is so responsive. What about focusing on the new features??

Oh, it exists. It's headed to stores as we speak.
