I agree LOL Next they will say Akai are all Masons in a secret society to get our money to run the world LOL :WTF: I told dude they shouldn't have credited his card until the product shipped. But he said the magical non sense. He said he gave in to the pre-order and thought it would ship the next day. I'm like no dude, if its a pre-order you have to wait because THEY DON'T HAVE IT IN STOCK! LOL :Sigh: :WTF:

At NAMM they still had to start production. They were too bussy making deals with distributors to anticipate how many units they should build for their first batch.

That's why they didn't have time for the average joe. That's why the whole thing (Akai booth) was closed to the public.

just my 2 cents :smoker:

This sounds like a lot of overzealous, conspiracy theory BS, by someone who has way too much time on their hands. It annoyed the s**t out of me, to be honest.

Retail stores don't pay a goddamn red cent to the manufacturer until product ships. Then, they're invoiced; typically NET30. Akai might have gauged their manufacturing needs, based on preliminary orders, so they didn't overshoot demand, but they certainly didn't finance the production on pre-order dollars.

You want a device? Wait until it's in stores, or pre-order and WAIT. End of story, I can't stand whining artists.

I think thats where the crankiness is coming from, people thought it would up to order day 1 only to be disappointed that it's only a preorder.

Sorry, but this is nonsense.

Akai/inMusic don't get any money from pre-orders until they fulfil orders.

The product was announced a week before NAMM, yes. That has been the case for the last couple of years for most manufacturers. Once NAMM hits there is so much noise from all the manufacturers that it's hard to stand out. The latest trend from many manufacturers has been pre-NAMM announcements... beat the competition to the hype. It is my understanding that inMusic had a closed/private booth for a number of reasons - the main reason being that the private booth gave inMusic's business partners a better environment in which to demo and review the products as well as conduct meetings.

The product is delayed as they want it to be solid upon release. I know we all want to see the MPC's now, but we don't want the MPC's to be released unfinished. And surely nobody wants 2.0 to come out until it's passed beta.

Woke up with this morning with a message to contact my supplier regarding my preorder. Just got off the phone with them and they told me they won't be getting the MPC Live until late May and it should be in my hands by June (hopefully).

I live in Australia so I assume it takes a little longer for us to get stuff anyway.

The post above yours, is from an Akai rep of Australia. He told us weeks ago that Australia will get Live in May and X in June. Don't know if its a worldwide release, but here in the US sellers are "confirming" a April and May release.

Oh yes! I burned out my consumer Sony cd player from pausing, forwarding and rewinding cds for samples, I figured a steelcased cd rackmount would be suited to take the punishment. Gonna use it for the Live. Got an ES2 and using it just to sculpt weird abstract samples too. I know its gonna blow my mind when I get it so I'm gonna be prepared with dope material.
