Anything else posted here that's not about the Live/X will get deleted, and the people posting it risk getting banned or put on pre-moderation. BTW, not looking to start a discussion about banning and post deletion etc - as I say, keep this particular topic 'on topic'. That is all.

I think there will be a lot of buyers remorse from Live users when they realise you have to prod around on the screen for 99% of its functions. I just hope they don't start bumping up the price of the X for the mods they're making.

I Don't mind working on the sceen of the Live. I have a toych screen pen that l use it should work on Live. I will just be doing drums a nd dome melodies on the Live so there wont be regret or remorse on my end.
Its a powerful machine.

I think there will be some people using Live for the lounge room and for some field work due to its portability. This will be a nice little sketch pad with standalone capabilities and there will be others that will have the X as the centrepiece in there studio .
When I had my Ren and finished tracks I used to go to a buddy's studio and dump them on his MCI 500 and use all his outboard and do the vocal on top.

With the X there will be no carting along the PC or Mac..

I only need 16-24 tracks to make a song and not obsess lining up waveforms and shit in a DAW.

With the sequencing and sampling capabilities of the X it will be my centrepiece for sure.

Just add a Minitaur for the bass and the latest Roland Synth like the JDxa or System 8 I will probably have all I need for years to come.
All for less than 5k.

Cheers

For me, the Live seems the more appealing of the two - I work from two different locations these days so the Live can slip into a backpack and be with me whenever I need it, taking up minimal desk space. I'm not a fan of huge 'workstations', I like compact; both in size and in price. The Live clearly isn't perfect though, it could definitely benefit from more hardware control options. I'm sure there must be some way of retaining a compact footprint while adding things like locate buttons, more Qlinks, a touchstrip etc.

Damn you, I just checked that minitaur you posted and it looks like a great little bass synth! I think I'm gonna have to buy one in the future! That and the X should be a nice combo!

Do you have one? Anyone here who has one and is using it with an MPC? How is it?

The Minitaur is now in V2 and costs 499 USD and comes with 100 presets and an editor.

The earth shaking bass you get from this baby and your groove from the X would be an awesome rhythm section live or in the studio.

No I don't have one but its on my GS acquisition agenda.

I love being compact also. That's why l never got the 4000 or Ren. I hate bulky stuff. But l was going get that X cause it looks sexy. Im not one for a lot of buttons either. Live is perfect for me.
It will be my center piece. Imin the box and it will work with Reason And Studio One.

Not sure if people want units that are that big anymore.

It's all perspective. The X seems rather slim and compact in comparison to what I'm using.

The X is a regular sized MPC like the 60, 3K, 4K and 5K albeit with a much flatter profile. The 2500 was a good size but I never liked the smaller MPCs.

I actually think the Live is too big for a mobile device. It's a shame they didn't spend more than 5 minutes designing it to make it look more appealing.

Slightly off topic, as far as design, what would you like to see? From an industrial design perspective, I think the live is quite on point.
I am in favor of the larger size on the X compared to 2500, but that screen hang is atrocious and vulgar( it reminds me of the keys on the Arp Oddysey MK2). I do not care for the scalloping futurism side caps either, but yeah that's nitpicking, and it's about what it does...

Yeah, I was measuring based on the specs of the Live and realized its gonna be a big machine. Its approximately 16.5" x 9" or 400mm x 240mm for you metrics guys.

If its a solid machine, I plan to customize the Live. Hardly any printing on the casing itself, so its gonna be easy painting it and laying down decals.

However, I do get the feeling a Live XL will appear one day and that will be a beautiful box to look at.
