I know this has been asked before, but I just wanted to know how I connect my turntables/mixer to my MPC...I'm ready to start trying the sampling thing and I want to make sure I know what I am doing before hand. Thanx for the help.

get some 1/4 ' plugs with rca's or a single 1/4' to rca plug for both sides and plug into the input on the back.

if you use your mixer plug it in like this <turntable>--<mixer>--<mpc>

keep the volume on your mixer at 7 and use the red volume kknob on the mpc to adjust the record level. to sample hit(shift+4) this takes you to the sample screen.

i don't use the threshold so turn it off-<><> this way; you just hit record when your ready to sample.

hope this helps peace

You really need a Pre-Amp

Thanx Ede....I got it all working...I actually did some samples last night...I do have one question....after I recorded my sample, I had a hard time figuring out how to trim it properly...do you have any good tips or walk throughs that you could give me? I got as far as seeing the wave pattern but once I hit the trim key and tried to cut off the start and finish I got a bit lost. If you could help me out I'd appreciate it.

D_Samp-

Great suggestion. Thanx for your imput....last time I checked I was talking to Ede....he helped me out with my first question (that he was kind enought to answer without the lame manual thing)....so I asked him another....I wasn't asking you. But now that I know you are full of help I'll keep you in mind.

I'm trying to get a nice mixer. I've searched for a forum on the best mixer to get for sampling, but did'nt find anythign helful. I don't want to just go and buy one. I am also curious if I'm intrested in sampling is it necesary to get a pre-amp. Can someone elaboarate exactly what the pre-amp does. I remember watching that tech tv thing and the guy was talking about the pre amp.
Thanks In Advance

When u are in the TRIM screen what u hilight is what will be kept when u press DO IT. OPEN WINDOW will show a close up of cursor point on sample. Try that....
