Besides demoing the new units, is Andy Mac also assembling the new MPC's one by one?

Jokes aside, this wouldn't surprise me tbh. It's obvious that's there's something wrong with the X and possibly the Live too. And don't forget about 2.0 which is obviously not ready.

I think it's better that way, the more they delay the release date the more time competition has to catch up.

Yep and thats where NI can step in. Akai probably don't want that info out cause it could hurt sales.
I bet its the software 2.0 giving the problem.
Akai should of out out strictly a standalone so ee could have it. Then come with the hybrid. They would of had time to work on ut.

Things are looking interesting to say the least.
We'll see if things are out in April.

To quote the new post that appeared:

Hey there folks... I received an email 2 days ago from Paul Buckley (VP of Marketing for Akai / inMusic Brands) letting me know that the MPC X will be shipping in April. Jack O'Donnell's (Owner of Akai / inMusic Brands) Executive Assistant Ericka Bruce has also informed me that it'll be out in April. They specifically let me know this because I have a YouTube channel with a bunch of MPC Tutorial videos that have a grand total of over 600,000 views. I've actually helped them sell a bunch of units from these tutorials, so they're gonna give me special pricing on the new unit. That's about as reliable a source that you're gonna get other than coming from the mouth of Jack himself. If I receive an email from them letting me know that the April date is gonna change, then I'll let you guys know asap. Here's the playlist link to my MPC tutorials down below.

No 2.0 or anything new in his vids, though.

Im like this folks l love Akai MPCs. If l can't get the Live on either April or May lm going to bow out. This absolutely is unacceptable and insane!

I have two options:.
1. Buy a used mpc 2000XL
2. Buy Akai MPD218 Drum Pad Controller.

I seriously need 16 pads. I have 2 dedicated DAWs so lm not worried at all. I want my drum programming to become as easy as possible. The date gane is over for me.

I wouldn't blame dudes if they switched to another company.

Its official Akai has messed up.
Riddle me this. How is it that Akai said they were in the making if this for 3 years but it seems like they are just getting started? It doesn't add up.

Dammit Kay! Now I got the theme song locked in my head. Who knows how long it'll before it tires out :x :lol:

Been hearing plenty of stories of how dudes sold their equipment thinking the MPCs were to drop in February. Most sold everything thinking it was gonna be a 2 week wait from announcement. :WTF: I'm sorry but hearing those stories made me :lol: :lol: :lol: all day. How you gonna do stupid shit like that without a plan B.

Damn, I feel bad for those that sold gear to preorder. For the rest of us, the world was turning before the announcement of the X or Live and will still keep turning after dates are missed. Akai isn't the only one to miss the mark on dates. When I first got to this forum I mentioned hoping it wasn't going to be like Arturia with a showing at NAMM 2016 and finally finished up just after NAMM 2017 for their Matrixbrute.

They did that thing right though, so for some the wait was worth it. For others, they lost the excitement momentum and moved on to other things. Its always a risk with releasing news too early. I set a good long wait time as an expectation to start with, so no big deal when I see dates move. Just want to see it done right. If it is, you are looking at a standalone that will hold value for a very long time.

I was thinking of what Andy said in that Live video about swapping to controller mode and using in your favorite DAW. He made no mention of 2.0 being a DAW itself which is kind of a big deal if it really is supposed to be a full fledged DAW. Any more official word on MPC 2.0 being a full DAW?

I guess the definition would be Midi, Audio, support of third party plugs, etc to realize from start of an idea to completion of mastering.


According to the standard web definition, which is very loose, it doesn't even need to be capable of mastering to any standard. Also if the standalone can spit out a stereo end mix, then it is a DAW in a proprietary box.

It must have been a rumor, the BAX store over here says 10 weeks from now, last week it was 11 weeks and so on.
