Even when that day comes when the MPCs hit the stores, and given Akai's history, I can see them being an unusable buggy mess, software wise.

Pair that with low quality internals just like all the MPC's after 1000/2500, and there you have it, the latest and greatest.

They will fix some software issues after several months, the hardware will remain faulty and may even charge for repairs under warranty and then they'll just move on to the next project, Mpc Y which will be "the greatest mpc ever" abandoning the Live and X.

I can honestly see that happening.

Roland:

They set the bar so high with the MV final version that they are going to have a hard time beating their own beast. Seeing what they put out lately, not so sure they could do it. I got a jx-03 and its fun, but VA with only 4 voices? I got to spend 4 hours last weekend with a JD-XA at my friends studio and its a beast of an instrument, but still lacking extensive sequencer functions and the finish on it and gaudy red backlighting (or green backlighting with AIRA and System 1/System 8 ) is kind of cheap and dj lightshowish. It does nothing to help see controls.

SuperNatural Sound engine plus VA synth with high polyphony (just put the damn Integra 7 in there and call it good for synth stuff) and sampler that has all the MV had plus faster processing and still be able to do real multisampling, plus COSM fx and mastering, mv-op1 type output built in, cv/gate built in, digital in/out, SD slot, SSD drive, 8 GB RAM please. Sequencer can be left as is, but make it on a touchscreen.

I'm in if they do it. Anything less and they have not done all they could with their current arsenal. Wouldn't even take much for them to port it to new specs and form factor.

Leave the darn shiny surface and backlit knobs with hard to read lettering for other lines. Just make a smaller, sexier MV with all i/o and integra 7 engine inside and an 8" touchscreen. They could sell easily for what original final version mv8800 sold new. $2400 - $2800 range and I'm still in. Leave the Analog synth stuff out. We can get our own.

They could do it if they wanted to, but not sure if Roland has the balls. Its not even asking them to be groundbreaking. Just asking them to throw some existing technology in with newer hardware and a little code rewrite to accomodate. Their individual devices already can do all that would be asked of them.

Again though - Korg could box up the Kronos with 16 pads in a sleek design and make competition tough. They don't need to do much to stuff Kronos in that form factor and make it more beatmaking friendly.

All just wishful thinking though. At least Akai has the gumption to put out a standalone again. Even two of them.

If one only knew when they'll be out. Can easily stretch to 2018, seeing how 2.0 was handled.

I'd buy a smaller MV any day. It's just do damn big.

That item should already be finished and in our possession! Im definitively not waiting till 2018-19 or 20!

I love Reason 9 its sick. That time stretch is bananas! That was the top reason l upgraded Reason because of the SSL mixer in it. Crazy!
The editing is nice. At first l though it was wack but it was me l didn't know how to use it. Now l do. I have Alpha Track single fader that control the entire SSL. Don't even start on the dope effects.
I have studio one 3 and to me its better tha Protools. It has everything in it when you buy it PT you have to spend money to complete it. Im going to get the new Presonus Fader Port 8. It will control S1 and it has a template for Reason 9 so l can use it for that too. S1 is so easy to use its pathetic.
All lm looking for is that Live now and l will be complete.

Yeah its kinda odd they make an up to date vid about an item that's so old. Hmmmm.

HDMI on the Live/X? That's what they should of done in the first place. I would love to see that.

Read into it what you will but although this is an Akai forum and thread I think Akai are **** themselves and are altering the hardware to accomodate a HDMI panel to give punters the choice of standalone with theX and ability to connect to a 4 k ready LCD in the size of your choice.

Akai have gotten wind of the impending Roland Sampler and won't to at least stay in the game.

My 2 cents worth and I have been right about the Drumbrute recently to so sometimes speculation can have an element of truth.

With only the sp 404 left in stock and not a real flagship model then what else to do.

Over the last few years Roland have made a good habit of announcing something at a trade show or DJ thing in Utrecht Netherlands with the ACB Aira stuff and boom it was in shops virtually within weeks.

I am confident of this happening again and I may even cancel my preorder or the X
with Sweetwater.

One thing Roland can definitely do better than Akai is marketing.

That new video doesn't really tell you much about the device or its functionality, OS features etc.

I don´t think so. Keep in mind that they don´t work for Roland anymore. And unlike Akai they are not known for lying to their customers.

It may be old but it is still relevant today! Don´t forget that it was way ahead of its time and that it can do things no MPC can to this day...10 years later and Akai is still playing catch up...

Akai has been dragging their feet way too long on giving its customers solid info on when the Live or X will actually be available. I'm planning on canceling my pre order for the X this week. Beside, that'll give me an opportunity to check out what the competition will come out with later this year or next.
