That last video, what is it's purpose exactly? It shows nothing. It's like they are promoting the s***ty sample kits in the new units which no one cares about. Oh and Andy touching the screen multiple times for no apparent reason.

Seems like some high school kids took over Akai's marketing.

They should of pasted it to the end of the previous video.

I'm not frustrated with Andy as he's doing his job and at NAMM he took the time to answer a lot of questions. But I do understand why people are running out of patience.. For me the hype ended 1.5 months ago.

And I'm at the point of saying f*ck all of this I'm leaving and I'll be back over six months to see if it's out or not. maybe I'll burn my cash somewhere else.

Pair that with low quality internals just like all the MPC's after 1000/2500, and there you have it, the latest and greatest.

They will fix some software issues after several months, the hardware will remain faulty and may even charge for repairs under warranty and then they'll just move on to the next project, Mpc Y which will be "the greatest mpc ever" abandoning the Live and X.

I can honestly see that happening.

I really want Akai to prove us all wrong. Akai needs to release a MPC Live & X that is stable, innovative & just plain FUN to use. My gut and past experience tells me that your probably right though. If Akai messes up this time around, I honestly don't see them ever recovering from it.

How I feel about Akai atm is that they're probably 50% the same old Akai with their hasty marketing and big marketing words but who take a ton of time to get anything out and when it does, it's semi-buggy…and 50% an honest new try to get things right, and that is taking them tons of time.
The local retailer who seems to keep constantly in touch with Akai keeps stressing the "this time they want to get it right" aspect…and I do believe in it to an extent. And that's probably why it is taking so long…Akai know they can't afford to go all Ren v1.0 anymore unless they want to sink big time.

Yep, you're right. They should inform about progression being made. Not show the same workshop over and over …

Speaking of HDMI?

Not to make you all go crazy here, but…

I think some people are reading way too much into ADSR's gear chat video. They do a series calied gear chat. They also reviewed the Korg M1. Does that mean by their smiles in that video that they secretly have knowledge of Korg releasing an up to date new M1 synth? Probably not.

They have done the D-50, Ensoniq sq-80, Yamaha dx-7

They review old gear. No secret meaning to the mv8800 video.

KnackKnick wrote:I just finished watching that whole video with Mike Acosta and Jim Stout and let me tell you what I am reading into it.

Judging by there wry smiles and body language there is a new Sampler coming and I think it's going to be revealed at MusikMesse and released into the wild immediately after.

Roland has released almost all of there legacy with drum machines and synths so the only thing left is there sampler range.
With only the sp 404 left in stock and not a real flagship model then what else to do.

Ever year around NAMM time I get excited to see if Roland will announce a new portable version of their MV8800. Every year it's a new accordion or re-release of a legacy keyboard but NO MV8800 MK2??!! Roland if your LURKING here on the MPC-forums website looking for inspiration….PLEASE make an updated, portable MV8800 MK2!!!

It´s still relevant because 10 years after its release it can still do things no other hardware sampler on the market can.

My point exactly. It works for you = it meets your production demands, still being relevant.
E.g., timestretching. You need it. It gives you that. It works for you. Relevant.
Take MPC60. Classic machine, but doesn't give you that. Doesn't work for you. Not necessarily relevant.

Well can't argue that

That is understandable, but none mentioned that in the video or thread, neither is there demand for it like the MV.

Beside that, Korg will release the KORG Gadget OS X soon. It includes the M1 known as Darwin.
