Not really defending Pete, but I don't think he officially represents Akai.
Also, I'd recommend people to take *everything* with a pinch of salt. Don't get excited about every cryptic tweet that may carry a hint of positivity, and don't all excited about the next store date that says "soon".

But yeah, as for "Quarter 1 of 2017 (springtime)".…Akai, hello…you need to update this sooner or later.

I think it's also safe to say that folks may be getting overly pessimistic, because so many posts here are hypothesizing June / July.... even September, with no real substantiating info to support it.

Someone on the Akai forums said it best; we'll all find out in exactly the same way we found out about the Ren... someone will get an out-of-the-blue shipping notice, and announce it to the forums.

So why dont Akai simply officially say the 2.0 software is still being beta tested; or why dont they do a public beta?

Public Beta testing would expose too many bugs & force Akai to fix the issues PRIOR to the MPC 2.0 software/Live/X release. It would cost Akai potential revenue (sales).

Private beta testing limits Akai's liability (less Beta testers will find less bugs). It allows Akai to release the product & use paying customers (early adopters) as beta testers!! It also gives Akai more time to slowly fix the issues at the expense of their customers' sanity of course.

If what u say is true than it would behove Akai to relase the v2.0 software asap; and the let the bug finding comence.

The longer Akai delay; the expectation from the user base is that they are fixing ALL of the bugs and that the software will be more perfected with each day the release is delayed.

So if akai drop the software in August or September and it is still bug ridden; the back lash will be fierce and justifiably so (u make mofos wait this long and the shit is unstable or missing certain functions.)

Your assuming that Akai genuinely cares about their customers and/or products. The bottom line is that Akai is a business. Some businesses do whatever it takes to stay profitable even If that means releasing unfinished products and using paying customers to beta test those products for them.

LOL yep, Starman, that's what he told ME it was on the Boat LOL Zangets I get why he gets on your nerves. Now he is talking about NEW PRODUCTS! Hell is they talking about new products for, they need to get this right, crazy dudes man. Already moving ahead and haven't finished what they started with the MPC stand alone. When I do get that Live Ima keep it for a llllllllooooooooooonnnnnnnnnnnggggggggggg Time, cause I don't plan on buying a Machine from Akai for a while. This should hold me for what I want to do and don't need another type.

Only thing I see them doing is making a Drum machine, strictly stand alone and making it how the MV8800 is, with HDMI port on the back, red book mastering, with the CD recorder on it, etc. Some may buy into that, but I wouldn't need it. They will catch the new comers coming and those that wanna burn cash for absolutely no reason!
