For example when you export stems out of the Live/X in standalone mode you can send them to your desk top so you can drop them immediately into a DAW. You can use the 2 usb to connect 2 external drives also.
He was asking if he could acces the internal hard drive of the computer while he's in stand alone mode. That would mean that the MPC becomes Master and your computer becomes Slave. I have never seen a device doing that.
Also if you look at the USB cable, the flat connector connects to the master and the square one connects to the slave.
Its only with special hardware that you will have a usb cable with flat connectors at both sides. And how is the MPC supposed to tell the computer that he's become it's master. Dont think that akai has got the knowledge to do that. It would also mean that they would have to write new code for your computers operating system windows+mac.
Regarding to the USB ports, The square port is to connect the MPC to the computer so you can go into controller mode (MPC becomes the slave). When your in controller mode the internal HDD of the mpc pops up on your computer just like your phone or any external hardrive does (This was explained in one of the NAMM videos).
The 2 other (flat) USB ports are to connect a external HDD or pendrives, USB sticks etc. The MPC becomes Master to those devices.
You can't approach the HDD by setting up a shared network folder or client folder, it all depends on the type of network protocols, which will make this communication possible. The MPC would become the server and HDD folder the client.

The only way I see this will be possible is by setting up a ftp server or remote acces. But why go to all the trouble if you can simply:
Tap the controller icon on your MPC screen > the MPC internal HDD pops up in windows > drag your files from you computer to the MPC internal HDD or drag your files from your MPC internal HDD to your computer > done..!!

Thats kinda the way I was picturing they would do it for ease of transfer. Maybe even two folders show if you have the ssd space filled up with an ssd drive. One for SD, the other for ssd, then just drag your files into those folders or drag from some folder created on the MPC drive for exported stems into your computer.
If you choose to not run 2.0 on your computer, then the MPC just acts like typical removable storage you can drag your files into from wherever you keep them on your computer.s
If it does have functional wireless, then maybe it has a built in ftp as you mentioned. Beatmaker 2 on ipad has that. It has an ftp you start, then connect to ftp from your regular PC and transfer files back and forth.

Just sold my OP-1 - very cool for inspiration and getting tracks started but I sold it because:
- Sequencing was quirky (kinda painful) which is the last thing you want when capturing ideas (quickly)
Even after the latest update, the 4 track tape still attracted pops at loop or drop-in points
When usb was plugged in, the noise via the output jack was appalling (truly, it was unacceptable)
It was easy to record stuff via the 4 track that was then hard to seperate and use later in a DAW
All of the above made it an unnecessary struggle to integrate with a DAW or an existing set up
You either click with the OP-1 or you don't but the noise, clicks and pops shouldn't be on anything at that price. If you've got cash to burn though, very creative device - lots of happy accidents if you know what I mean, YMMV.
Therefore, I woldn't worry about the OP-1, there doesn't seem to be anything else out there that can touch the LIVE and X for standalone (as long as they work!).
