Don't take the above about the looper and saving it as a sample as a fact for the new MPC's though!

My bad I didn't explain myself fully. I meant that you can't turn the 8 stereo into 16 mono. At least not at the time that I heard this being talked about.

Damn, working in stereo tracks can be chaotic for me. I like mono tracks so I can pan them at mixdown. We'll see how it goes.

Making a strong mix in mono is key.
I hope they have included some sort of stereo width control plugin on the standalone so you can make tracks/pads mono when you want.

In the video, the question was asked because since you're limited to 8 stereo audio tracks in standalone, the brother asking the questions wanted to know if you can increase the number of audio tracks by breaking up the stereo into mono for basslines or ish where you wouldn't necessarily need stereo.

Traditionally, DAWs have mono tracks, if you wanted a stereo track you would use two tracks. I don't see why not Akai can make 16 mono out of 8 stereo, should be easy to implement.

Now I'm thinking what happens if I sample in mono. Will it be forced panned to the left channel or come out both L and R channels using up (and wasting) a stereo track?

Superbooth is coming as well as Musikmesse next week, I hope things changed for the better since NAMM.

Audio tracks are important to me, the more the better. I'm looking at the X as a 16 track looper triggering my loops from the pads, like Push2. I don't mind using 2.0 and their software To achieve this, but stand alone would be nicer.

I invision using all 8 outputs on the X into my mixer, using my effects racks and hardware and capturing the performance in Cubase. Potentially a wonderful hybrid setup with a lot of fun with routing options and realtime sound manipulation.

I had read that they were (SOS), but the reviewer also said that the software he was working with wasn't finished. Hopefully that's going to be remedied (along with stereo tracks only - I'd like mono, too), when we finally see the "finished product").

Aren't other tracks actually be supposed to be capable of length that's not dependent on sequence length?
I.e., the longest track would kind of determine the seq. length.

So why wouldn't the audio track be able to determine the seq. length then…?
