I don't understand why Akai doesn't keep their loyal customers in the know. None of their customers would complain if akai came out and said that" The shit is taking longer than expected , we'll keep you posted." Instead akai says nothing in the age of social media where it costs a company nothing to send out a post.

Yeah, this is the thing that rubs me the wrong way a lot.
Tons of people interested in their new gear, credit cards ready and all, hungry for more info…and yeah, absolutely nothing from Akai.
Definitely does not reinforce the notion that they're doing it for their fans and customers.

i've got an MPC Live pre-ordered but all my experience is in software so i'm totally clueless when it comes to hardware...!
that Sonicstate video on page 167, that's pretty impressive how they connected those synth modules and midi keyboard to the MPC X. the thought of adding live bass/keyboard parts on top of the samples playing back hadn't occurred to me. not that i understood how that setup worked!
will something like this be possible with the Live? it doesn't have the CV connectors but maybe it can be done through the MIDI connectors or USB? if i could play something like a Moog Minitaur via the pads on the Live, that would be pretty cool.

It can be done with the Live, you don't need cv for it.

First there is Andy Mac stating "The MPC 2.0 software has been completely written from the ground up".
Now on Twitter, Pete Goodliffe is saying "Lot's of new parts have been completely built from the ground up. Very serious UI rework. There is some existing code in there, naturally."
It would be nice if Akai gave us a unified statement about the MPC 2.0 software.
Since I have to read between the lines…. The MPC 2.0 software is just 1.9x with a GUI facelift and a couple of new features. OBVIOUSLY, the NEW features were written from the ground up because they are completely new to the MPC software!!

not to be funny but why do u think peeps was so hyped by the idea of audio tracks if not to do the above without first tracking/exporting to a DAW?

just be glad this may be the last production center u may need to buy cos this seems to cover all the features and workflows u will most likely need, from a hip hop point of view certainly.

You can do midi synths or even get a midi to cv converter to use the Live to sequence analog gear that only has cv control. Just nice that the X has so many cv outs and very configurable. There were a lot of people excited at the thought of a new modern standalone mpc becase they don't use a computer and have a lot of hardware synths.
At least they were excited before Akai started acting all weird with information.

i've no idea, i wasn't being cute when i said i was totally clueless about hardware! i was a bass player until 12 months ago!

the new software will have audio tracks, which enable you to record live instrumentation into it as you would any other DAW....
its not currently possible to do it in the MPC software.....you would need to export your MPC music into a DAW to record audio...
