SD card questions - sharing SP 404sx card with MPC

Hey guys.

I have a 1gb sd card that came with my 404sx. Will I be able to use it back and forth with my MPC without having to format it in the MPC? Or should I just buy another card and use it solely for the MPC?

I have a reader for my computer too, and I am assuming I will be able to use both cards to access files if I do purchase another one.

yea i would not interchange cards except maybe just once to get the files if you really need them. the mpc filesystem is extremely particular and it could either corrupt your 404 files or the 404 could corrupt the mpc files.

I do this with Triton Extreme and mpc2000xl. I formatted the card FAT on computer.
I can now use the card freely between both machines. I stay with 8 character filenames and haven't
had any problems in years. ROOT of the card I have 2 folders, TRITON and MPC. I keep all samples at
44/16, both machines can use all samples.

that is really good info.
the 8 character limit is what i would be most worried about. can lead to disaster so if you do it, be careful

'been an IT guy since 2000, I can handle it man, lol. 3 cards I use are Lexar CF 512mb. I didn't care to try 1gb cards and have mass amounts of problems, I know better. I stuck to what is known to work and have had ZERO issues for years. If a "404" folder is made and all 404 projects have their own subfolders in that then it should be good. Can 404 see folders, idk, I've never had one. If so, op should be golden if....

ROOT / MPC / ..every project gets it's own folder.
ROOT / 404 / ..every project gets it's own folder.

CON is that when I wanted to use Triton samples in MPC projects I can...
A) use computer to copy samples into other folders.
B) use Triton or MPC to navigate to and load the samples to RAM, when done make SURE to save the projects to the correct folders. This creates your copies and saves with the correct song.

Should not be a problem at all if you get your head around that. Not hard at all.

Hey Guys,

can anybody confirm, that he made this combo work?
Meaning, was anybody able to create an SD card that one can swap seamless
between an SP404SX or SP404A and a MPC 2000XL to copy samples?

I am trying to make this work but neither the SP nor the MPC is accepting the other machines formatting of the card.

I am thankful for any type of advice on this.

Format card on pc FAT/FAT16, use 8 character filenames only. This is what I did when I used 1 compact flash card between Triton Extreme + MPC2kxl for years.
