Wished I had the Live for exact measurements but I went with the metrics Akai have on there site. Making wooden sides too for the Live with metal grills. Its gonna be the bob-bomb.

Thanks Rah, its a cool little workstation, going to have a thread on the process of the build. So far, I mocked up the plans and already cutted out the pieces. This thing took two 4'x8' plyboards  even though its small and compact but its got a lot of compartments and details.

Friday, I'll have pics ready.

Just the marketing, cryptic smug sh*ttiness, non-informative posts etc, while people are waiting to get to buy it, and all that is something I can't tolerate anymore.
It doesn't resonate well in me. If their aim was to be some elite hype hipster machine, I'd say that's a job well done. If they're trying to be a company that's friendly and conversational towards their followers, they really f*cking suck at it.

So your decision to not buy it has nothing to do with the product/potential product? That's kind of weird.

It was a loose "Q1" release date at NAMM, we've only just got out of Q1, and the product is very likely going to be here next month... That would be two months late. I've known products to be 1-2 years late to market (and no, I'm not talking about Akai). I'm sorry people are frustrated, I get it, but things are happening in the background to ensure we get the best new MPC experience out of the box.

I'd imagine when there's meaningful information to disclose, regarding release dates, it will be made public. At the moment there's really nothing to report other than the obvious - the product isn't ready to ship.

BTW: the "closed booth" thing at NAMM had nothing to do with not valuing customers. Booths are MEGA expensive at NAMM (people such as Ableton don't even display) and they wanted to provide a better environment for retailers, distributors, endorsees and press to view, evaluate and understand the products.

Not hating on anyone. Yeah, as mentioned before, it seems as if we are forgetting what NAMM is intended to be. I've been following the news of these machines (as we all are) and I'm not sure why there's a general sentiment that AKAI has done us dirty specifically in regards to this product. Regarding preorders and unconfirmed dates, this seems to be on the retailers. I think I waited about two years for the Buchla 252 to be released!

It has a lot more to do with not releasing status updates than releasing ship dates.

The silence is uncalled for. Akai customers would rather hear "we got some new bugs with clip launch we are working out after fixing the midi channel delay bug and we are redesigning part x because of beta tester feedback. We'll update progress in a couple weeks. No eta at this time except ballpark June timeframe, subject to change if we feel its still not right yet. Talk to you guys in a couple weeks with next progress report".

This is how you solve the current grumble from those anticipating purchases or those that pre-ordered.

Not silence

It's a rather bizarre and outdated solution called communication, but still seems to please people for some odd reason

Not buying something because of the company is something that happens all the time. People think Apple's practices suck, so they only buy Windows. Not weird at all.

Akai just needs to communicate better. That's all this is about. "Loose Q1" - I don't know man, I don't recall anything being said at NAMM about "Loose Q1". LOL. I remember Q1 though. Maybe behind those closed doors they were saying "look, loose Q1". LOL.

But either way, I don't mind that's it's delayed. It's just the communication about it that stinks.

You coming on here is awesome though - at least someone is communicating. And to keep coming back here commenting knowing how people are unhappy... thumbs up.

Yeah, fair enough, I can appreciate that. At the moment the MPC's are only one week overdue. Obviously that delay is likely to extend to more - but many members in this thread have been complaining about the delayed release date long before it was even technically late.

Thanks Eyalc :)

BTW: my use of the word "loose" in regards to Q1 release wasn't a direct quote. What I meant was that Q1 is a loose date; as opposed to a fixed, firm date; like 1st April.

I get it. My response to Eyalc also applies here.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and I'm not saying your frustrations aren't warranted, I just think a lot of heat is being applied to a product release date that at this point in time is only one week overdue - and is looking like only being a couple of months late.

Some us are upset about the software being delayed for almost a year now.

And that's fair enough. I'm sorry it has taken so long.

Are you able to slap Peter Goodliffe in the face? That would calm a multitude of fellas here :)

I've been following MPC threads from all over, and I've read people complaining about bugs in previous models, software, etc. Even not being an MPC owner, yet, I understand how folks who have the earlier models being upset that 2.0 isn't out yet could be irritating. BUT... people have to consider that maybe Akai are trying to get it right this time, maybe they're trying to get their name back. Getting these new MPC's and their 2.0 software RIGHT is hopefully what it's ALL about to them at this point.

From my perspective, , their reputation and future of their company is relying heavily on these products being a knock out, being the best they can be. I hope they take as long as it takes to get it right the FiRST time because when I drop the $$ for the X, I want it to blow me away and do all it promises. If it doesn't, , it's going back and I'm moving on to something real. Best wishes Akai.
