MPC Live or Elektron Digitakt ...

They're two different animals, really.

DT is for those who like a drum-machine-type pattern programming workflow where you get away from pushing midi blocks.
Also, step-specific automation (parameter locks) is great. DT also has a nice new feature: conditional triggers.
This means you can enter a probability value for a midi note…e.g., 33%. So, with 33% probability, the note will play. Great for more organic drums…think ghost kicks and ghost snares, for example, so they won't play every time.
The stuff you can do with it is great for all sorts of "mangling" on the fly.
DT is better for slightly more minimal loop-based work.

MPC is better for more complex and layered compositions, allowing for songs that are more rich. Get all symphonic if you wish.
And touch screen will be killer. And gotta love the pads and big internal storage and clip launching.
With the chord feature, it's a lush composer's dream.
Browser will allow for quick searching of sounds (saw Andy use that in the weekend).

Can't really compare them TBH.

I wonder how efficient the MPC wkill be with timestretching in chromatic mode. Meaning, If I sample a C chord strum, and lay it across 16 pads, will it automatically engage timestretching to keep correct timbre, while pitching the notes up / down?

Anyway, I honestly agree. The MPC is a much more feature-rich creative platform. It's really a workstation. An 8-track recording system merged w/ an MPC, and all that entails.

Go question. Id imagine stretching the sample first sample then lay them all on pads

Nah, seriously got too many samplers, if it was just the MV, Live, DT then I'll be content but I'm clearing up the studio, sold a couple SPs, couple 414mkIIs, the MPC500, some monitors and a few sofubi kaiju from my collection. Putting this money toward another vinyl record release in the future.

Andy was really stressing to me how they really want to get it all right this time.

Ok. Clearing house huh? Im so glad l don't have to deal with. Im bout to crack open my new i7 PC. I just have to reload everything. Glad l won't with the Eastwest stuff uts on a separate drive. Getting ready for the Live is exciting.
