If these audio tracks and primitive time stretching algos took that long to implement, Akai is in serious need of a new software team. Besides those features, it's a re-skinned 1.9, which is why I initially said to myself, "a year and a half, huh?" They really hyped up this browser, and I'm not seeing anything new other than a search bar. I'll let other people chime in though because, in all honesty, I've been annoyed with Akai for too long to give an unbiased opinion.

Thank you. You have confirmed my suspicion. MPC 2.0 is merely 1.9x with an updated GUI and a couple of new features. Let's all hope Akai has focused their time and resources on making sure that the MPC 2.0 software is stable and reliable!! Time will tell….

Since the Beta is restricted to Live and Touch owners: can someone please upload a few screenshots of the new features?
Would especially like to see how audio tracks are integrated. Multi track view like in a DAW or just a single audio track as we saw in the demo videos?

Google it (not being unfriendly here)…tons of info out there.
A copy protection scheme; either a USB stick or just an account + depositing a license on your computer.

The Track View does display multiple audio tracks. But the editing is pretty limited compared to other DAWs. For example, I cannot drag the region from one track to another. Also, you cannot adjust the start and end points of a region if you miss cut.

This only works with the desktop software. Any track editing from the controller forces you into the single track view.

Ok, thanks. Already expected it to be limited in editing features (based on the demos).
In your screenshot there's a single midi track above the audio tracks. Can you actually see a whole arrangement (midi tracks/sequences + audio tracks)?

Yes, you would see multiple midi and audio tracks together.

Meh, was looking forward to the media browser 'tagging' system but it uses the same ridiculous method as the Expansion Browser, i.e. where you have to rename the actual samples to create groups (and now tags). So it seems to create a cymbal with a 'hip hop' genre 'tag' you must actually name the sample 'HipHop-Cymbal-whatever.wav' and this sound will now appear in the 'Genre' tag group under 'HipHop' and under the 'Instrument' tag as 'Cymbal'.

These tags appear to be pre-defined, so samples with 'Hi Hat' in the name don't get tagged as hi hats, it has to be 'HiHat'. That will be fun when you have an existing 3000 sample library you need to 'tag'.

What's wrong with the Maschine browser method? It adds the tags as hidden meta data to the end of the sample, easy peasy. The MPC method is horrendous.
