MPC Live or Elektron Digitakt ...

is the digitakt stereo or mono though... seems like it samples in stereo but only plays mono samples.

and what is the reason there is no digital out on the mpc live?

Samples and plays back in mono, but output is stereo (panning, stereo reverb+delay).

These units have more limitations than 20 year old units that's a problem imo

No more than the limitations by actual 20 year old gear used by producer's today. Its the user's limitation not the machine's.

It's always the Synthtopia gear nuts that seem to generate the most canned, mannerist rehash s***. Without fail. Pristinely produced and numbingly generic. The kind of crap you hear on YouTube behind video game graphics montages.

I have the digitakt paid for, but I am feeling the GAS for the Live now too. I am thinking I can program pattern changes from the live and once I have finished a tune I can record the digitakt performance as an audiotrack into the Mpc live.. such a dope combo of machines.. must resist haha

Or just be done with it and get the X and have 8 audio tracks and lots of in/out.

How are you guys planning to use both machines together?

The more digitakt demos I see the more I like it, but at this point I don't know how it could coexist with the X/Live? Any ideas for inspiration?

They seem like 2 separate beasts all together. The live/x have everything but I believe that the digi will have a quicker workflow. I've had the live for a week or two and still fumble with menus, buttons etc. I have yet to dive real deep on the live but it's more like a "daw in a box" than a quick little groove box. Although the live can be a beasty groove box it would take more to setup.

I will see how the digi performs in hopefully a week or so.

I plan using the Live as a standalone DAW and the Digitakt as my dirty little sampler. I can make beats on both but Live feels for studio production while Digitakt feels for basement mix-tapes.

I'm planning basically the same thing as Ill. I don't want to use a computer so Live will be my DAW in a box for recording guitar, bass, synth stuff, and for longer samples.

Digitakt is going to be more for manipulating samples and for coming up with interesting drums and sounds using the Elektron workflow. I think it will be more of an instrument for me and the Live will be the powerful DAW. I think it will be quicker to come up with ideas for me on the Digitakt and then flesh it out into a full track on the MPC, all while avoiding the computer.

I like these ideas, I might have to get a digitakt as well

It's going to take a while before I can afford one though, still saving for the X and after that it's the sub37.

Or maybe I could get a Live instead of the X and a digitakt..

Change of plans, ordered a Digitakt and couldn't be more excited! GAS levels went trough the roof with that little beast!

Anyone got theirs already?
