I agree with pretty much everything you said. I've been dealing with this dilemma for like 3 months now, if these mofos have released the X already then I'd be a happy customer and wouldn't even look at the Live. It's taking too long and I'm getting impatient, although I'm certain that I want the X over the Live.

July however is 2 months away, and it may get delayed again, next thing you know the year is over and I spent a whole year waiting.

The MPC work flow is gunna be different to what I'm used to.. I used a MidiBox SEQv4 previously to sequence, It was an animal like a DIY cheaper version of a Cirklon.
I pre-ordered the "X" because it's different & seems to be what I've have been after in a "all in one sense".
Hoping the sequencer is tight like blood though... Everything else feature-wise on the "X" is a bonus to me....

Gunna be like going back to school, to learn the MPC, but alls good!

Bax got back to me, looking possibly like MPC X arrives 22nd May for a 25th May delivery, hopefully 2017

Just a couple of stores have raised it, hopefully just chancing their arm a bit to catch a few pre-orderers unaware. I'd be surprised if anyone thinks the MPC X is actually worth £1800. Going to suck big time if after all this time waiting for the release the UK stores suddenly ramp up their prices.

I got the Live, for a couple of reasons.

1. Size 'n' portability. Since I'm new to the MPC, I figured if I don't have all the extra bells 'n' whistles, I won't know what I'm missing. Besides, with a touch screen, I can get around fairly easily (I think!).

2. Cost. I'm on a budget these days, even if I'm flipping gear to get more gear. I figure if I really get into this and feel I need the X, I can always splurge later.

As it is, I'm very happy with my Live and the price I got from Sweetwater (discounted through my rep).

MPC Live:
1. It's portable
2. I want USB 3.0 , Sd card and hd.

It would be nice of Akai would offer some freeware for Live and X users to track out audio via USB into a DAW without the 2.0 software.

I'm going crazy trying to figure out which one to get. I previously used a 1k, but always felt like I was missing something by not getting the 3k. I was set on getting the X win it dropped. In waiting for the release, I downloaded Logic and have been making some pretty good music with it. (Computer drums tho.) Now I'm thinking that the Live might work for me. Memory is the same. What more do you get with X than the Live besides more ins/outs and dedicated knobs?

The Wow! factor. And 3 more inches (of screen size  )

That's pretty much it. I'd expect it to have more features to justify the price difference but it's doesn't, unfortunately.

More outputs, CV/Gate, more Qlinks, build in amp for turntable, bigger (tilting) screen and dont forget the wow factor..!!

The live is really dope for the simple fact it has a battery pack I still have my Touch and it's not ever getting touched again because I'm making beats in the living room, on the bed, anywhere. The portability is a game changer!
