Hey friends! I am looking forward to snagging up an MPC Live in the next few months.

Here's a question: What instrument formats does the MPC Live / MPC 2.0 software support in standalone mode?

I have many SoundFont files I'm interested in using live with a MIDI keyboard. I have converted some of these to MPC format before to use with my MPC1000, but the previous format only supported a maximum of 4 layers per note. Seeing the large amount of RAM included in the Live, I was hoping to see options for more layers per note.

It would be GREAT if I could use the MPC Live as a sound module for my performances...

Any ideas? THANKS!! :worthy:

It's still only 4 layers per note, and I suspect that's going to stay that way for the foreseeable future, I've been asking for a higher spec on that front for years now although I wonder how much the standalone could handle given the memory and CPU limits.

The MPC Software supports AKP format, I don't think it supports soundfont, but I'm sure there's plenty of software to convert SF2 > AKP.

Thanks for the replies, guys!

I use Extreme Sample Converter to convert my SoundFonts to other formats. It is a fantastic piece of software. Chicken Systems' Translator has always been a bit finicky for me.

Can't wait to dig into this new MPC... !
