If you check my post on 1.70 beta you will seen that i said it was postponed.

It`s has been postponed. The 1.70 is mainly bug fix. Remixing is still great on my 4k like back in the day. Just like I said before Akai programmers needed to rebuild the new features again to get it stable and New Years over here is like Christmas vacation it wasn`t ready for the holidays. Sometime in March now for the remix features. But now the oldtimers some of the 2XL features have been transferred and the askys fix will be a great plus. Most important thing rather than waiting on the updates stressing just learn more workarounds to use what you have to become the master musician you want to be. It`s the man not the machine that matters. Still can`t say all the features because I don`t to be the bringer of bad news too. Anyway just bang on. Madlib uses a SP303 and still makes hot tracks, its the man!!!!!

1.70 makes chopping a breeze like before on the 2xl and I `m able to edit audio better with my mac with less crashes. Once I welcome the staff at Akai Yokohama for the New Year I will get more info. Like you I adapted and overcame when I learn the news in early Dec. The remixing functions were a go till it started crashing along toward the end of Nov with the engineers eyeballing New Years holiday with their families (**** it the users will have to wait I guess was the thinking. The tech and sales staff were all excited but had to breathe and stop and wait till they programmers got the code right. P.S. these are non advertised features they are talking about here. Anyway the last I talked he told me that 1.70 had changed to a fix and with extra time and rebuilding the code Akai want to come thru with their surprise in the Spring. Spring Break in Japan starts from Feb thru the end of March by the way. But I never said anything about it becoming a MV 8000 clone don`t get it twisted Summer2k or anyone else. Just think Propellerhead

Me neither, but it's just one of those things that we are going to have to wait for.

Propellerheads makes 3 pieces of software. Rebirth, Reason and Recycle.


I really doubt they are going to make a 303/808/909 clone out of the MPC so
that leaves us with Reason or Recycle.

I personally don't think Reason is too Remix orientated , so that leaves us with
Recycle.


We already have a limited Slice / Create new Program and Midi file features and the ability to
"shuffle" the regions around before the Slice. Those are all remixing type of features.

So maybe they'll be creating a nicer slicer and dicer. I believe that right now, what
Akai does to "slice" up a sample, is to divide into "regions". So it's splitting them based
off of time. Where recylce, actually analyzes the loop and slices up based off of beats.


Recycle allows to replcace bits of the slices with other slices from other loops.

Maybe stuff like that.


Don't really know myself, and I will gladly use it when we come out, but we're all just theorizing what is happening. Come Feb or March given that the code is stable by then, we'll be able to utilize these new features. Given that they are unadvertised features and most companies don't provide any information about unadvertised features until they show up, we should all be happy that we know that something new is coming down the line. The details won't be provided, as they may change as programming goes on.

Until then, we can use what we have. Been doing the job for me up til now
