If I measured that somehow, it'd probably be around half millimeter, and when you turn it, it doesn't wobble at all…you don't feel it. So there you go.
I'm gonna say anyone making a point about a jog wheel that's half mm loose is definitely a hater who's not using the device. So, ignore the pointless hate and focus on the constructive feedback.

has anyone been able to connect a midi controller direct to the live inst standalone mode; I expected it to plug and play; and check in the most obvious locations for midi controller input settings but have not found this yet.

I plugged my Samson Graphite in and it was good to go - didn't use the USB, just the five pin plug. Didn't mess with any settings at all.

Same for me with a Quneo and a Korg Microkey 37.

hmm i connected a mininova via usb and the power over usb works but no midi; I will have to try the midi cable, but thats a dam shame akai.

also ca n the on board samples and kits be deleted?

The Data knob on the the Live wobble just a little to give some give because you can push it down so it has to do that. The 4 QLinks knobs are sturdy and you don't push down on those.

To say the Data wheel is wobbly as hell is over doing it. Every Live has this. So the pattern is if all the machines had this it was meant to be. The Data knob should be turned and pushed down not wiggled to death. You treat your machine with respeact it will stay well kept.

tried my prophet (perfect timing, i can directly record every parameter of the prophet)... also tried an lpd8 via usb-midi... seemed to have a very settle latency, but also worked in a way i can accept...

Think they should of weighted the data wheel, cos currently it's hollow, if they had made it dense that would give it a more sturdy feel sorta like da data wheel on da MPC studio black

You connected the LPD8 to the Live? I have one and l didn't do that.

Maybe. You don't like the kits?

Try deleting one and see what happens. If you want to delete everything find a way to get rid of it all at once. There sre a lot of sounds and kits you will be deleting forever.

Go to one kit, hit "shift " only look at the bottom of your screen and see if you see delete. If you do hit it and dee what happens.

What about the buttons? Are they rubber or hard plastic?

there are some cool sounds but i wannt go through them and clear out the stuff I know i aint gonna use and free up spec for my own sounds

Rubber coated hard plastic. They have a clicky action to them

Ain't no replacing the knobs. I accidentally swapped one qlink knob with a knob from my MPD218, and that q-link stopped working! Some capacitive magic on those encoder pots, you cannot replace em with any random knob.
