how to clear unused programs and samples.

i tried it and it didnt clear the unused samples

not in front of 4k right now - goto global - turni with the jog where it says defragment - turn first to purge unused progrmas (this will erase all progs not assigned to a multi) - then turn further purge unused samples ... (this will erase all samples not assigned to any program - hth

then i guess it did work. i was wondering if you could delete all the samples that werent used in the session. ex. if i had a full bank on a and b and i only used two sounds can all the other sounds be deleted quickly.

I don't think this is possible.

As Alto indicated, what the purge all samples does, is remove any samples that are not
currently associated with a Program.

I don't think their is a feature that removes any sample that is not being triggered
by a note in the sequence.

You'd have to see if they could add it to a future OS. Though I would say this feature is
less needed for the MPC 4000 users then it is for the MPC 2000XL, where they are
limited to 32M and we have 512M. Though when operating in 96hz/24bit, it does eat
the RAM away, especially if using Multi-Sampled Keygroup programs.
