SATA Max Transfer Speed?

Does anyone know the max transfer speed the MPC Live from the SATA drive?

While it is SATA it doesn't say what version. Even SATA1 is 1.5Gbps so I'm sure there is a bottleneck somewhere else.

Not sure if it's worth getting a really fast SSD or not.

Save yourself the money and go inexpensive. How big of files are you really going to be transferring all the time that would hinder your workflow? I put a Sandisk SSD plus in mine, works like a charm

but as of now nothing is streaming to/from disk so your question is moot. akai may very well add streaming from /to disk in later firmware updates, but today the speed of the interface in the machine wont make or break a purchase.

the bottleneck is the RAM and CPU. its 2gb of ram and the cpu is smartphone grade.

Well I currently have a defective unit and am awaiting replacement. I can only save to a USB key and it's quite slow.

I plan to use it for live shows so I'm running 3-4 stereo audio tracks plus a bank of one shots. I'm concerned about the time to load projects between songs.

Is anyone opening similar projects from SSD? How long does it take?

You are limited to usb 2.0 speeds on the USB ports, so thats also your bottleneck.

Depends on how complex your songs are and what is acceptable to you.

I had a live first gen and returned it for some defects as well, but my load times from SSD was well within acceptable limits for my OCD. I think you will be just fine with the load times.

Are your audio tracks super long? Are they MP3's or similar? They may take a few more seconds depending on length and bit rate, etc...
