Yes you can. And it won't be crazy import charges. I don't know where you live in Canada but you pay shipping unless you find it for free shipping. Import charges are taxes. That's it. So I live in Ontario. I paid Hst on it. Just like I would in the store. I got a discount of 20% and the dollar was doing somewhat good. When it was all said and done I paid $1,683.84 Canadian to get it to my door from the USA.
As a studio owner unless you got a hook up at a distributor or know a personal friend who can get the inside scoop then you'll be left in the cold by Long & McQuade or any Canadian Retailer. I was lucky to be told by the distributor that when it was starting to pop up in the US we were looking at end of July. He literally told me if I'd have better luck in the US. So the next day I found one.
Now to get to the Octatrack MKII. You can get whatever you want. Understand the octatrack is not an Mpc and an MPC is not an octatrack. I own both. They are both great. I prefer to knock about on pads and step sequencing is not so much fun for me. I still use it. Nice effects and the crossfader is bananas. Crazy crazy sh*t goes on with that thing. I've owned it since 2012.
The new Octatrack Mkii is the same as the old it looks like. Correct me if Im wrong I see no new software features or inputs/outputs. It has more dedicated buttons. But honestly. Why. They should have came with an entire new unit.
I'd personally just wait for the first generation ones to go on the used market for a great price. Then see about picking up the Live as well. Or vice versa.
also its the same Octatrack just under a new hood, so if you bought and hated it the first time, surprise surprise. ¡jajajajaja!
