Its driving me crazy, done a bunch of google fu, no luck. Currently running 1.05, finally installed the software (was running stnadalone this whole time), got it (Live) working, then I get the message:
"Your MPC Live is not running the latest firmware version...blah blah blah go here blah blah blah"

Cool, I did this in hopes of doing a firmware upgrades to at least 1.08. Go to the link...and http://www.akaiprompc.com/firmwareupdate

I see nothing for Live. I'm at a dead end trying to do this and was hoping someone could point me in the right direction.

Either you hsve a faulty unit or you messed up.
You need to go to:
Akaipro.com/myaccount and get the 2.0 software.
Or go to Akai support and tell them what's going on and have you serial number, where you bought it from, dste and order number to contact them.

Well based on something someone else said, I was thinking I could have a faulty unit, but with me getting mine in the first group at 1.05, and others at 1.08, I can't tell if I just need a firmware update or I have a faulty unit, this is the last thing "I" can do before contacting Akai...assuming I can update my firmware. and I downloaded the latest MPC software right before I did this...

sorry to poke and prod, just trying to exhaust my options before I contact akai, want to make sure the issue is not "User Error". What firmware version are you running? Is there a firmware update somewhere? And the thing that got me going through this is the inability of mine was from here - viewtopic.php?f=48&t=182961

In short I can't save drumkits, all I can save are projects...I seem to not have the options everyone else does. this could easily be a firmware issue, so I'm starting there.

Well it seems that there are units running older firmware (1.05), although I'm not sure why Akai are claiming they are faulty, surely they just need updating. Perhaps they haven't worked out a way of providing a user-friendly way of updating the firmware yet?

Anyone know what the difference is between 'firmware' (1.0.x) and the MPC Software (2.0.x)? I would have thought the missing program export option would have just been related to the MPC Software version, not firmware. I had assumed 'firmware' in these things is just some low level OS that interfaces the hardware with the MPC Software 2.0.

Firmware usually would be exactly what you described, in the instance of standalone product like this (can be), at least "I" am lumping the software version on the unit along with the control surface firmware, as plugging in my unit into MPC 2.0.X did nothing to update whatever I had on my unit - despite the software being updated a couple/few weeks ago.

I don't know why Akai would call them faulty as well, it should just be an update, I highly doubt they would rush out a product that would have to be recalled. Patched - sure, but faulty would cost them too much money.

thanks, I stopped bringing my unit to work after getting frustrated with this problem (brought my System-1 in so I could I could do some sample library building) so I'll have to wait until I get home to compare...though its sounding more and more like I may just have to go through Akai (sigh)

I found it's the order I connect them

It's when I have the software open first then try to connect the MPC X Second is when the firmware error happens for me.

So connect the MPC first to controller mode THEN open the software second and I don't get the firmware error.
