Been many years since me and MPC 2000XL. I seem to remember being able to set each pad trigger mode to things like one-shot, hold, loop, etc. My is memory correct, right?

I can't find this function in the drum program / pad settings etc. on the live. Sometimes I might load (for instance) a vocal sample and I'll want to alter the playback by holding the pad different lengths of time...but this seems to be stuck on 'one-shot' playing the entire sample...

I know mute groups could do this, right? But that would be a tedious work around... am I missing something? Nothing in manual...forum searches...

Greetings from a fellow Live newbie,

Spend some time trying this same issue, wanting to change some samples from 'one shot' to 'hold'. Got this far:

MENU / SAMPLE EDIT / (then click on the 'Sunshine' icon at top right of toolbar) / Shows a popup SETTINGS MENU with options of TOGGLE or ONE-SHOT.
That's as far as I get, since touching either of those options still leaves my sample as a 'one-shot'.
Thanks to anyone for any sunshine on this.

Hi there, from a fellow Live newbie,

Been spending some time trying to set a couple of pads to 'hold' instead of 'one-shot'. Got this far and almost there....
MENU / SAMPLE EDIT / then click on the 'Sunshine' icon at top right of toolbar / Popup SETTINGS MENU
shows options of TOGGLE or ONE-SHOT. That's as far as I get, since touching either of those options still leaves sample as a 'one-shot'. Thanks for any sunshine on this.

it's in the program edit screen. The note on option is to the right, it defaults to one shot. Tutor will probably post a pic of the screen when he reads this.

For a DRUM program:

PROGRAM EDIT > LFO MODULATION > SAMPLE PLAY

Set to NOTE OFF or ONE SHOT. There is no option for 'hold' or 'loop'. a note on sample will play for as long as you hold down the pad, but you'll need to set it to 'loop:fwd' in SAMPLE EDIT (and set loop points correctly).

A clip program has the option for a 'toggle'.

Thanks for posting the steps. Now enjoying the luxury of using the NOTE OFFs! :worthy:

Ah!!! Thanks all!

There are some things about functions and locations of those functions on live that are crazy counter intuitive... makes sense to be in program edit, but why on the LFO page? Whatever though... still a fan...

Is there anyway to quantize live pad play when in program mode? Or another mode? For example, MPC Live is receiving clock from another device, I'd like to be able to drop a one shot in on the one and not worry about sloppy timing. Possible? Can you do this with clips without having them loop?
