PROBLEMS RECORDING A SEQUENCE

HI,

I've just bought my MPC Live and I'm having some trouble. Here is the problem: I record a chopped vocal sampler, then I want to add a kick, I add the kick to the same program on an empty pad, tap overdub to record the kick over the vocal sequence, and when I tap the kick pad the rest of the sequence mutes. Can anybody tell me what am I doing wrong?
